I went on the tour to El Nicho Waterfalls about 3 or 4 years ago. The trip was a bit taxing for me as I have a bad back but worth every second of discomfort. I have been travelling to various parts of Cuba for over 30 years and must say that El Nicho is the most breath taking place... More

Was there late June, 2015. Drove from Cienfuegos. Roads were rough with lots of foot traffic, horses, etc. Reasonably easy to find, although we had to ask directions once or twice (but it's Cuba!!). Didn't try the restaurant, but it looked nice. Public bathrooms were nice and clean. Had to go in a group with a guide for $9CUCs each,... More

Went to visit EL NICHO with Cubanacan Tour (small tour of 6 people) from Cienfuegos. Entrance to the park was included in the tour fees as well as the lunch at the park's restaurant (lovely food!!). The park is amazing: clear turquoise-blue pools (there is the possibility to swim), scenic waterfalls, luxuriant vegetation, splendid views of the valley...through a 1.5... More

We normally hike/walk by ourselves rather than with a guide, but here you have to have a guide to do the walk. Our lady guide was Olivia I think, and she was wonderful, very informative and knew all about the plants, animals and waterfall. We got to swim in all the pools of very clear blue water. Great day out.

Place not know by to much people and therefor not as busy as Trinidad or Vinales. Super nice to be for one or two days. Swimming under de falls an climbing the hills. There are a few casa particulares to spent the night an enjoy a meal.

We went on New Year's day and it was gorgeous. There were fewer people there than I expected and this helped with the atmosphere. I think the place would not be very nice if crowded. There is a bit of climb to the pools at the top and it was nice that the path down followed a different route.

The untouched landscape of Escambray mountain range offers spectacularly appealing scenery where deciduous and semi-deciduous trees, ferns, pines and tropical and sub-tropical plants cohabit at 500 meters above sea level at El Nicho Natural Park. From the 200 km² Topes de Collantes Great Natural Park Headquarters, hikers, trekkers and rock climbers would reach El Nicho where waterfalls, natural pools, lagoons,... More

If you come by car, you have to pay about 9 CUC (per person) and an extra fee for the parking. The tour lasts about a hour. You can go swimming in natural pools at every waterfall, hence it´s worth a detour on a hot day. After the trip you can eat at the nearby restaurant, but mosquitos are also... More

We did a daytrip to the "el nicho" waterfalls. The waterfalls and the natural pool were amazing and also the atmosphere in this forest with the singing birds and special plants was great. Our group was not too big and we had enough time to swim in the cristal clear water of the natural pools. After the tour we had... More
