also nice casa particulares there, we had the best cocktail in cuba at the public parc just at the peek of the punta gorda :-) would recommend to take a taxi there (around 2-3 CUC to the city centre)

Clearly the better part of time before Castro's revolution, Punta Gorda still has the feel of a tropical resort. The main hotel, the Jagua, is tired and worn out, but the Punta is beautiful on a warm spring afternoon.

Nicest part of town. Apparently this is where all the rich people lived before the revolution. The house's and all other buildings are in much better shape than in the rest of cuba. There is a nice modern art deco hotel there over looking the bay right next to the big palace. Lots of nice casa particulars and few resuarants...

Punta Gorda is a gem, especially the park (Centro Recreativo la Punta) right at the end of the penninsula. The park has a small snack bar, bar and toilets. Great views across the bay, with a lovely, shaded spot to sit and read or while the hours away

Although the view from the pier behind the house is lovely, and the room is fine and clean, Isabel will take every possible opportunity to rip you off. Everything is overpriced, from breakfast to dinner, so better go elsewhere if you don't want to pay about 50% more than you would in any other casa for your food.

I agree with the other reviews regarding the Angel & Isobel casa particular. While their house is beautiful with a private beach and lovely outdoor area, our reservation was not honoured. We were shuffled to another casa near theirs which really was old and hospital like. (Obviously someone else had made a booking at Angel & Isobel for more nights...
