It's not easy choosing from the hundreds of wineries in Israel, which one to visit. There is plenty of quality of wine to be found. If you are looking for a place which does a great job of combining excellent wine tasting with history, the Carmel winery is the place for you. The tour is charming, taking you into the... More

We visited this winery on my birthday. My wife mentioned this to our guide/hostess. They treated us like royalty. Champagne at 10:AM, a tour of the winery followed by lunch and a generous tasting of every wine they produce. I have visited many wineries over the years but this was by far the best tour/tasting I have ever experienced. Wonderful... More

A Great enjoyable tasting at Carmel Wineries Wine Shop with a chap who was quite the comedian but also know his wines and was able to rec. to us a wonderful Cab. 2008 substitute to match Decanter award winning Syrah 2006 + able to match to my palate , some of the best of Chile / Safricas red offerings. The... More

This is a lovely place to visit - the tour doesnt take too long (about an hour in all) and you get plenty of chance at the end to try all the wines. The guide was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We went in October and there were only 5 people on the tour including the 3 of us. The... More

I had the pleasure of hosting my parents from Ukraine recently. When you think of the center of Israel, you can’t miss Zichron Ya’acov. It's a beautiful city with rich history and full of attractions for tourists. As a big lover of wine the first thing that came to my mind is the Carmel Winery. So I plugged it into... More

The winery should have been much easier to find than it actually was? We walked over a mile to the end of the street (to Winery St) and someone told us to go left... WRONG. We walked to the restaurant up 1/4 blk and they said they thought the winery was "up" the street and proceeded to point us further... More

On a recent visit to Israel, we were excited to visit Carmel Winery as a break from other tourist activities. While the setting was beautiful- old vats, pretty tasting room- and the guides were outgoing and informative, the overall experience was lacking. The tour was pretty short, only about 2 rooms were shown, and the tasting only included 1 red,... More

I was initially very excited about going to Carmel winery as it is one of the biggest names in Israeli wine. The facilities are beautiful but the staff seemed completely uninterested in educating the public. We went on an English speaking tour and the tour guide barely explained anything about the wine making process. A little of the history was... More

There are other charming wineries in the area, but Carmel is the first and largest wine producer in the country. The tours are very informative; the wines exceptional; and the gift shop irresistible. First our guide taught us how to hold our glasses properly. Soon we were admiring the color, swirling the wine (to aerate it), sniffing the bouquet, and... More

We visited Carmel Winery on January 1 with a family group of about 16, ranging in age from 60 to six months. We first dined in a private room adjacent to the bistro. The menu was excellent and plentiful, and well priced. We had many vegetarian and dairy choices, including salads, bruschetta, pastas, raviolis and, of course, wine. Coffee and... More
