This is a magical spot for kids that proves that nature is a much bigger draw than man made objects. Pros A cool spot on any hot day... Completely shaded by redwoods. Kids have so many options for play -- the play structure, massive tree stumps, the creek, the bushes, the hillside... It is a redwood grove right next to... More

This is a great family park just a 2 minute walk from downtown Mill Valley. It's a great place to pack lunch and let the kids run around. Old Mill Creek runs along the edge of the park which is alive in the winter and spring. Lots of places to picnic and relax under the redwoods.

This is where to go when you just can't manage to make it to MUIR WOODS and you want your family or kids to experience the HUGE REDWOODS of our locale. I always forget this little detail when I have guests in town and we are too late with the overcrowding of Muir Woods. This is a great back up.... More

Its right down town and it gives you the smell and taste of Muir Woods but on a smaller scale. Always shady so wear layers/ The old mill is still standing in the Southwest corner of the park. On the northern end is a stage where you can often catch a performance.Picnic tables are scattered throughout the trees.

we pick up a latte at Equator Coffee, then walk down to the park with Macallan, our puppy. She loves to play catch at the park because there are wide open spaces to run. A golden retriever we saw last week was soaking wet, since its owner threw the ball into the creek. The redwoods provide a forest feel, and... More

I don't know that I'd make a special trip from out of town to go to Old Mill Park, but if you're already in Mill Valley, why not. It is quite pretty, with a year-round stream, and surrounded by cedar trees, it's a nice enough place for a picnic or just to relax. But, maybe I'm just jaded because I... More

Ruins of the old redwood lumber mill are on the creek. Also an old gravity car that used the Mt Tam Railway. Surrounded by redwoods

We went cycling from SF to the Old Mill Park. Follow Cascade (road) to the cascades and to the top for a nice view and cooler winds
