I reviewed under Mount Rushmore, so redoing this here as well. I asked Ranger about the trail, as I had knee surgery 7 weeks prior. He casually told me a piece of cake, 6/10ths if a mile. It is 3/4 staircases, up and down, over and over. the only area with an elevator is in main plaza to go down... More

It's a well care rail, but you have to be prepared to last each and every one of the 259 stairs that you will find along the trail.

We loved the presidential trail. You get a closer look, there are history markers about each president, and a building with information about the artist. One day we started from the left (facing the mountain) and we felt is was less strenuous. We came back a day later and started from the right and there are more stairs to go... More

If you go this trail is a must. If you dont want to do the stairs you can go to the left facing the monument. We did the stairs up and the trail down.

Very interesting to see Mount Rushmore from various angles and viewpoints. The trail was relatively easy although it does have steps.

If you visit Rushmore this trial will give you a greater understanding of the work involved in making the monument. And the closer views are amazing. Take your time and the stairs won't be such a challenge......even for us old folks.

This gets you closer to the Presidents and there are great spots for good pictures. There are a lot of steps to go up and down, but worth it.

It can be hot and long, but this trail shows you some very up close and differing views of the monument. You will think you've "seen it" from the distance, but as you hike the trail you'll see all that you would have missed. You paid the money, hike your butt up there and see it up close.

Was not sure if this was going to be of any real benefit but it did give a closer view of the faces and helped to appreciate the work that has gone in to creating them. Did not take the rangers tour though.

The walk was grand meandering through the "wilderness". You often caught a glimpse of the monument while walking. Eventually, coming to a clearing, the whole thing was visible. Getting, closer and closer actually got me more and more excited while my wife became emotional. At 67 it did become a bit much and we took the nature trail back without... More
