You've come this far, you have to do the trail. As you view the mountain, start the trail on the left- this will allow you to walk down the stairs versus up. My daughter counted the steps, but stopped at 100. Lots of great views and interesting information along the trail.

It's not really a hike it's just a lot of stairs to get you different angles of the faces so I mean I would for sure do it also you should take one of the Ranger tours as well

We went right around the trail. Kids were complaining by the time we got down to that studio building. You get up close to Rushmore and it does give different views than the typical. If you take kids or strollers, go left until you reach the closest point and then go back the same way. It might have said that... More

This was my first time on the Presidential Trail. I had always skipped it thinking it was too steep or strenuous. This was not the case. It was actually a pretty easy walk and well worth it. Great up close views of Mt Rushmore plus there's rangers along the trails to greet you and answer questions. Do not bring a... More

Really nice and short walk around the place and a closer look at the Presidents faces. We took the path to the left if you are facing the mountain and it was really nice. Some stairs at the end, but not too bad, but if you have any knee problems it may be a bit difficult. They also have a... More

Nice stroll around the Presidential Faces. Take the trail to the left. If you go to the right, you are climbing a lot of stairs.

Very interesting to see the multiple views of the carvings. The path was very well thought out in that regard and the trail was also easy for families and small children due to the boardwalk and step construction.
