We arrived at Mount Rushmore a little later than anticipated (around 5:30pm) and were there for sunset. It was beautiful, but made the monument a little hard to see. We decided to take the walk, which was great! The trees and mountains helped block the sun and we had some amazing views. The only thing I didn't like about out... More

The walk is easy and you get Great photo opportunities. Don't miss the sculptures studio as well. There are interpretive stopps along the way. It is only about a mile walk and it has apaved path and wooden boardwalks and stairs. The smell of the pines adds to the experience.

Exercise, reflection, nature-gazing, and pure wonder and amazement are all the features of this loop. Take your time! Walk and gaze and pause and think and (if spiritual, pray and give thanks!) savor this wonder of the world! Whatever you spend in time and resources to get to this attraction will be worth it all! Remind yourself of how great... More

The President's Trail is a loop trail. From the left side of the visitor's center (as you are looking at the Monument), it is an easy walk to the base of the Monument with spectacular views, then an easy walk back the same way -- all on a boardwalk. If you want a more intense hike (but certainly not difficult)... More

The Presidential Trail at Mount Rushmore is not to be missed. It provides up close views of the Memorial, including points where you can see only one of the heads. At those points, there are informative and accurate interpretive signs about the President whose image you're currently seeing. Please note that there are several steps on the trail, meaning that... There were lots of stairs on this walk but I enjoyed it very much. The woods are pretty, the deck/trail is nice and it is really neat to get up close with the monument.

The trail was more of a bridge but well maintained and very easy to walk through. Loved the information stations on the presidents. Got to see some mountain goats which the kids loved!!

The presidential trail offers a closer view of Mt. Rushmore. You can see all the boulders that remain after carving the faces. I also saw a mountain goat from this trail.

This was a trail that allowed you to get closer to the monument than just at the visitor center. It has many stairs so be prepared for it. The views are well worth the effort. It can be very busy so go early.

To walk or in fact stroll the Presidential Trail is the best way to view the Borglum statues from their many angles. A relatively easy walk we went clockwise and it seemed to be the best way to view. Take your time and rest at convenient spots and you will really feel like one with the Presidential busts. Go in... More
