Great walk

The walk is challenging but worth it. You get a lot closer but make sure to stop at sculpture building and see the huge cast of the presidents.

Great close up view. The day I was there the left side of the walk was closed. It was 250 steps up on the right side. But still worth it.

1/2 of the Presidential Trail is closed due to construction. You can still reach the viewing platform by entering the trail head near the "sculptor's studio" . Due to the early morning hour and the slight difficulty finding the trail....I was the only person to use it !!!!

The Presidential Trail is a bit strenuous due to all the steps, but it's a great way to get up close (or at least as close as you can) to Mt. Rushmore.

As close as one can get to the faces without special permission which is next to impossible. This is the best public view you can get. The walk is moderate, not difficult and paved 99% of the way. Several great stopping points for a rest if needed or for photos. We live nearby and make this walk several times each... More

Yes lots of stairs so take your time but definitely worth it. Allows you to get the closest you can and realize how big it really is.

It was a great walk! It's paved the whole way, but there are a lot of stairs, so be prepared to work those calves. Definitely worth it though - don't go all the way to see Mt. Rushmore without doing it right and walking the trail!

Bring water! Along the trail there is a lot of opportunity for the kids to learn some history. The kids are already asking to come back.

Part of the trail was closed due to reconstruction. But possible to walk "right" way and back. I think almost 75% of the trail still was open. You get another view of the Presidents and the Theatre so it´s worth it.
