Take the Hike

Yes lots of stairs so take your time but definitely worth it. Allows you to get the closest you can and realize how big it really is.

It was a great walk! It's paved the whole way, but there are a lot of stairs, so be prepared to work those calves. Definitely worth it though - don't go all the way to see Mt. Rushmore without doing it right and walking the trail!

Bring water! Along the trail there is a lot of opportunity for the kids to learn some history. The kids are already asking to come back.

Part of the trail was closed due to reconstruction. But possible to walk "right" way and back. I think almost 75% of the trail still was open. You get another view of the Presidents and the Theatre so it´s worth it.

Lots of steps, and a great workout. The path is very well maintained and the woods are beautiful. There is a Sculptors Studio where Gutzon Borglum worked to develop what Mount Rushmore looks like.

We did this walk , waiting for the monument to be lit. It's great to be so close. It's nice for photographers, I got lots of great photos.

Walking all that way to get to the main site can be somewhat infuriating, luckily there is lots of beautiful things to see on the way.

I have visited here many time growing up. The last time was in July 2013 for our honeymoon. It is a great hike, however, make sure to go the left side up. It is much easier. The right has a bunch of stairs to climb and is much easier to do when going down!
