Montgo looks like an elephants head- honest. It's steep sides are not an easy climb for walkers although there is a designated treck from the Denia side which a fit person can use and reach the summit in under 3 hours. Spectacular views throughout. It's the backdrop to the attractions of Javea and Denia which you don't have to climb... More

Montgo is a huge lump of limestone between Xabia and Denia. Its imposing bulk and awe-inspiring cliffs make it THE attraction of the area and one which, happily, is available to a wide range of abilities and interests. Forty, fifty years ago I would have been scrambling up the steep ascents to the summit. Nowadays, I am content to follow... More

Hiked all the way up, 753m, a bit challenging but not the hardest hike. My boyfriend and I reached the hiking path by foot from Javea, it's around 5km to get there, it is a little bit tricky to be honest, we had to use the main road which was scary. Also, it was confusing to find the actual path... More

We loved the easy parking at the shooting clubwhere there are toilets and a cafe. I am scared of heights so was a reluctant walker! The start of the climb is steady and surprisingly level on parts. It was not a hard climb until we reached the top where the ground was very steep, rocky and very scary. The views... More

Living in this area means you will always get asked 'have you climbed the Montgo'? Well make sure you can say yes by taking yourself up there! There is so much to see with amazing views of Javea, Denia and surroundings in lands, and loads of wildlife when you;re up there. We went with close family and tried to do... More

We did a three hour round trip from the marina at javea. Not walking fast looking at the views. Once on the top, you could extend it down to denia or along to the mountain if you wished. The map boards on route show the options. You can drive right to the marina, past the fish market and park by... More

We've climbed Montgo quite a few times now, so we decided to do a bit more than just to the top and back down again (Javea side). So, once at the peak, we continued along the top ridge, along the centre of the mountain. Then down the Denia side, around the back side and back to the starting point of... More
