Well worth exploring the idyllic scenery and coast line. Make sure you take phone, water, and wear adequate footwear

This mountain is very interesting as it looks like an elephant with its trunk going towards the sea. The park is beautiful and extend on the beautiful hills. It is also very interesting to drive around the Montgo as the elephant face appears on both side

We were lucky enough to stay in Denia & Javea during our holidays & really enjoyed the mountain. Between us we hiked, ran & cycled all over the mountain. There is a great path for walking along once you have climbed up the small incline. A couple of routes will either take you to the top or to visit a... More

Fabulous views over the bay of Javea, Denia and beyond. The stroll from the car park to the lighthouse on the cape is level, on Tarmac, but with several tracks off to the cliffs with stunning views. Interesting to see the recovery of the areas affected by the fire of 2014. The walk to the top of the mountain is... More

A beautiful mountain is our 'Montgo' ,towering over both Javea and Denia, where each angle provides a different image from the mountain's outline. The first, driving alongside approaching Javea,is of a sleeping elephant, whilst the second,as one drives up the zig-zag road towards Denia,is of an orang outan gorilla. From that Denia road, there is an entrance to a start point for walkers wanting... More

I have never been adventurous enough to walk up but only look from a far. Many people have said about how the mountain looks like an elephant and yes it does but has anyone noticed that from certain angles it also looks like a gorillas head and if studied long enough a lions head as well! Now maybe some of... More

It takes about 1 hour 45 mins to walk up in the summer. You kick 3,245,325 loose rocks so wear sturdy shoes or better. It's hot, dam hot, so take 2 litres of water per person. Medium hard walk. Magnificat 360 degree view from Denia to Alicante. Take the camera. No trees so bring your own shade. Same time to... More

Fabulous views over Javea/Xabia and towards Denia.. Flat walking once you are at the top. No catering facilities. Unfortunately the area has been subject to a number of fires in recent years. Although nature is fighting back it will be many years before the area recovers.

I live on the lower slopes of Montgo facing the valley of Javea so, as it is my chosen place to live I would give it 5 stars. All year round the mountain is wonderful, from the clouds that swirl around its top at some seasons to the absolutely clear blue sky backdrop. I have read the other recent reviews... More

Great for an early morning hike before the heat of the day kicks in. Amazing views over Javea and Denia. The trails can be a bit rough in spots so wear good sturdy shoes. Definitely not sandals.
