What a lovely place, the castle and views are beautiful but the templar exhibition is only explained in Spanish with no other language options so after paying to see it, we came out understanding nothing more about the Spanish Knights Templar, everybody was friendly, the beaches are beautiful and there is no end of welcoming restaurants.

We stayed in a hotel in the old town and this castle was just up the hill. It is quite impressive and is well maintained, as others have said the views from here are worth the climb. The view from the beach looking at the castle is also worth of a photo.

Very beautiful and interesting. There could have been more information given, but the views were outstanding.

The castle is extremely beautiful, but only pay the entrance fee if you want to enjoy the views of Peniscola from the top. Otherwise, is enough just with a walk around it.

No wonder, the jewel of Peniscola. Only to see this castle it is worth to visit the city. It has various towers and buildings, catacombs, terraces, and incredible views. Do visit this.

I believe that they filmed the movie "El Cid" with Charlton Heston here back in the early 1960's. Lots of restaurants and shops going up to the top. Kids can also get a camel ride as well. It's like something out of a fairy tale. Worth the time to explore the old town behind the castle walls. It does cost... More

This castle was shown in the 1961 movie called "El Cid' starring Charlton Heston and Sophia Loren. It is a pleasant walk to the castle and there are scenic views to admire. Peniscola is also where a drink called "Papa Luna" originates from. Some of the shops were still not open at 11 am (really slack).

The castle in itself is not bad, but there is nothing amazing about it. But the view from the terraces and the roof are amazing, It is well worth the small entry fee.

Found the place amazing. It is quite a steep climb, but you don't really notice it because of all the vendors along the way, which helps you distracted from the climb. Everyone very friendly and helpful. The view of Peniscola and the Mediterranean is breathtaking. It is such an old place but so well preserved.
