Over fifty exhibitions are shown at the Delaplaine each year in eight different galleries. “We strive to maintain a balance between the familiar and the avant-garde, the local and the regional, and the professional and the amateur artist,” explained Manager of Exhibits Diane Sibbison. The center provides the Frederick region with educational opportunities and experiences in the visual arts through classes, exhibits, and programs and it does so with enthusiasm and a creative flare.

Aa a founding member and past president of the DVAEC, I'm so proud of what has matured and developed at this art education center. Once a thriving mill, today one finds life and art being produced, viewed and bought like it was 100 years ago with grain. A must visit.

I would love to take a class here. The building is located in the historic district of Frederick and is very beautifully done. There are lots of displays from local Artist. They also offer classes in such a beautiful setting. The staff is friendly and helpful. I would definitely return to the Delaplaine.

The visitor's center staff suggested a stop at the Delaplaine to get a better view of the mural's trompe l'oilel effects. As with our other stops in Frederick, the staff was beyond cordial.

It's nice to have a place that focuses on art in Frederick. They display art & have classes. I would prefer to go on my own next time. (My son was 7 when he & a friend went who was 6.)

Very helpful staff. Nice art presentation in a number of rooms to spend time wandering around in. Left alone to enjoy the peace and quiet of the artwork. Lovely gift shop with a number of various objects to purchase. Nice, nearby handicap parking. Great location right near Carroll Creek and the outside painting to enjoy.

This is the kind of museum you can go into, get a feeling of escaping, but it does not consume your whole day of site seeing or touring. There is just enough art to get a feel for the community's talent plus the little gift shop and hallway filled with locally made jewelry is fun to peruse! Years ago, I... More
