The only intact circular Roman Wall of its kind. An Unesco world heritage site. A great place to walk and sightsee or to jog. The top of the wall is very wide and it is obvious that many locals of Lugo come here to jog. It is an easy walk or jog, with many entry/exit points and wheelchair accessible. Bring... More

Loved the Roman Wall that surrounds the ¨Casco Viejo¨ of the city. Lugo is very proud of their history and have made an effort to preserve the wall in excellent condition. Taking a walk around the old city and viewing from the top gives one a sense of what it might have been like for the sentries watching out for... More

Well preserved and quite incredible that it is still standing. Wonderful to walk on this wall in the quiet of the morning.

If you love history these walls are a must. They are reputedly the most complete Roman defense structure extant in Western Europe. You can walk all the way round them (2km) and the sights of the city from the walls are fascinating. Lugo is not an obviously wealthy city but so what. There are few tourists around which we found... Walking along the walls is great. The museum, not so much. Not all accesses are equal so look around.

I believe Lugo is unique in Europe for having complete Roman walls all the way round the city. They are 2.117m in length and you can walk all round Lugo on top of the walls. The walkway is about 10 ft wide: there are a number of access points around the city. We spent one night and a morning in... More

Amazing! The original Roman walls completely surround the old town of Lugo. Well preserved they give you the feeling of what it was like 2,000 years ago to be a Centurion on patrol. In parts where there are gaps in the modern city buildings, you can see the stunning Galician mountains. Then look inwards and enjoy looking down on the... More

Loved walking the wall at night and enjoying the beautifully lit historic sites of Lugo alongside its more contemporary uses as a running track and dog walking route. Very memorable!

You simply cannot go to Lugo and not go to La Muralla (The Roman Wall). It is a Unesco World Heritage site, and the locals are justifiably proud of it. It is hard to get lost when you are on the ground within the walls, so take advantage of the walkabilty of this town, and do not miss the town... More
