stayed in Barstow overnight on way to Grand Canyon. Limited hours, so we planned to make it there by 4p.m. on Friday. Nice couple who managed the museum, very informative and fun, lots to look at, nice film running and gift shop.

We were on a Route 66 road trip and this was a natural place to visit. I do not recall the name of the woman who opened, but she was very pleasant and informative. This museum is larger than it looks and sits next to the train depot. The gift shop is well stocked with memorabilia from the Mother Road.... More

We stopped by briefly on the way home and Bill (owner) and his wife (see photo) were closing up. We did not ask to come in , but he opened up and invited us in. This couple is adorable and if you visit this museum and gift shop for no other reason, do it to meet Bill and his wife!... More

On our return from Yellowstone, we stopped in. It was a 100 plus degrees out. We didn't stop at any other places (other than gas). It was a little difficult to find, however, google maps took us directly to it. There is a train museum next door. But we didn't go to it. The museum has items from Barstow, football,... More

We would have loved to have seen this but unfortunately it was shut, it took us quite a while to get there too. The lady at the Chamber of Commerce said that this happens all the time because the opening times are not on their website. Be warned. Check first

If your interested in route 66 the museaum in Barstoe is a must see. The staff was very friendly. The museum was outstanding. The gift shop had great gifts and ample information to guide you on your journey. They also have route 66 tour videos playing. Many handouts are available for no charge.

Nice little stop off the highway to take a look at the past and stretch your legs. It does have Free admission, but they do take donations which is a way to keep these type of places open. So, that's no biggie. It shows you the old Route 66, has interesting artifacts of long ago. Old medical equipment, campaign badges,... More
