We did a bird walk with a ranger. She was a bit scattered, but quite knowledgeable. There were cougar tracks on the trail which had been circled, making them easy to locate and study. We also saw a bald eagle, which made my husband's day. This trail is flat and easy.

It is hard to imagine that this used to be the road into the park Very disappointed in the grafitti on the rocks at the end. When will people realize that we are not impressed by their ignorance. It is also a felony to deface federal land. Too bad they can't be caught.

this hike is very easy. You do not see any cliff dwellings in this area--it starts in the camping area.

Knife Edge Trail is a perfect place to watch sunsets. Off in the distance as it grows darker you can view beautiful Sleeping Ute Mountain while the town of Cortez slowly comes to life below. It will take about 30 minutes max to reach the end of the trail. Be sure to bring your flashlights (I have forgotten mine before)....
