This 42-foot-high cylindrical oil painting depicts the Battle of Atlanta in 1864. Viewed from a 360-degree rotating platform, the vivid details of this historic Civil War battle are now restored and enhanced with music, narration and sound effects. The cyclorama is a giant painting marking a historic civil war. The best part was at the end when the guide tells you the story about the actual painting and how the soldiers arent as big as they may seem. more

We began our Sherman’s March trip by going directly to the Cyclorama after landing at ATL. We arrived at 4:00pm and had time to review the museum exhibits prior to the 4:30pm last show. The tour begins with a brief movie showing the details of the Battle of Atlanta before entering the Cyclorama. The seating area rotates 360 degrees showing... more

We visited June 2008 based on comments on this board. I wasn't as impressed with it as others seemed to be. If you are a Civil War buff, perhaps this would be more exciting to see. I would personally only recommend it to those who are. more

This was our first time here. The staff was very helpful, parking close, and the cyclorama was incredible. Overall a great experience. more

This is a museum (which I didn't have time to see) and a 40 foot tall painting with 3-D diorama in front of it. I'm not a huge history nut and I still found this painting, which summarizes the battle of Atlanta, to be well worth the $5 admission ($4 with AAA or a zoo ticket, the zoo is next... more

The Atlanta Cyclorama and museum is in Grant Park near the zoo. I was the only person there so I was treated like a VIP. The cyclorama was created in the 1880s. It is a huge, 360-degree cylindrical painting viewed from rotating seats. It is a 42 feet tall cylindrical painting, 358 feet in circumference and tells the story of... more

Atlanta Cyclorama & Civil War Museum We took our nephews and niece with us. The youngest was around 10 or 11 at the time. They enjoyed it as much as we did. My husband enjoys going to places about the civil war. It was interesting to see and the lady that told about it was very knowledgeable in the story... more

A little out of the way but well worth the trip and the 1.5 hours you will spend there. As many cab drivers are clueless as to its location ask them to take you to the Atlanta Zoo. (It is right behind the zoo entrance in Grant Park). There is $1 off with an AAA card. The 14 minute video... more

the painting is enormous. so large in fact that the theater revolves around the painting. it is so big that a diarama has been added on the floor beneath the painting that perfectly blends in with the story and painting. we had an excellent visit to this unique historical site. the locomotive texas is housed in the same building as... more

This turned out to be a totally unexpected and pleasant surprise! You sit in a theatre and are moved around the arena to see the Cyclorama. Then you get to visit a Civil War Museum. If you are interested in history, then visit this if you are in Atlanta. more
