This 42-foot-high cylindrical oil painting depicts the Battle of Atlanta in 1864. Viewed from a 360-degree rotating platform, the vivid details of this historic Civil War battle are now restored and enhanced with music, narration and sound effects. Accompanying the Cyclorama is the Civil War Museum, highlighted by a steam locomotive from 1862. « less

If you have any interest in the history of Atlanta or the civil war this is a must see. Located in Grant Park right at the entrance to the zoo. At one time this type of 360 degree painting / diorama was quite common and traveled around by train. I can remember seeing it for the first time as a... More

Its not 3D and different to bribe kids to come to see the exhibit. Great for adults and visitors who speak English. Foreigners would have difficulty understanding the narration and text on the exhibits - no guides for translation. More

If you are a History Fan and truely appreciate art and history I highly recommend going. I took my father and sister a few weeks ago while they were visiting b/c my father is a true history fan and they thoroughly enjoyed it. The Art is amazing over 125 years old. and I learned so much about the civil war.... More

The painting depicts a day in the Civil War. Sherman's attack on the defenses of Atlanta. The painting and diorama are seen in a huge ciecular room with the viewing platform slowly rotating. Well worth the hour or so it takes. More

I just expected more interaction from this experience. It is an impressive painting though. That was a one time thing I'm not going back. More

I won't give anything away, but suffice it to say that the experience is quite unique, as well as historically informative. Our "tour guide" was very knowledgeable, and the staff, in general, were very friendly and hospitable. Highly recommended by our family. More

Ah, Cyclorama-- a so-called Atlanta "tradition" for many years. I'm not a native Atlantan, but have lived here for over 25 years, and finally got around to visiting. It's pseudo-history-- mostly accurate, but it reminds me of those road-side "historical markers" that are rarely accurate, but tell a good story. There are SO many better ways to spend time in... It's definitely worth a one-time visit if you're in the area. A one of a kind experience seeing the diorama. Felt like a Disney Epcot type attraction. Don't recall much of the museum otherwise, but if never visited before, it's definitely worth it. Arrange to see during a trip to the adjacent zoo, as it shares the same parking lot... More

Good insight to the civil war in a seat that revolves within the theatre, can be done with the zoo next door More
