My two year old loves dinosaurs, so we took him to Fernbank for that exhibit. We were hoping for a good childrens' exhibit, too. The dino exhibit is good. This museum is in a very beautiful, historic-looking area of town. The outside of the museum is very affluent and stately-looking. Almost like a large mansion rather than a museaum. We took our 8 year old twins here this past weekend and while there's nothing horribly wrong with the museum, there's also nothing spectacular about it either. Thanks to our AAA discount we got a discount but at $68 for a family of four, I could think of other attractions we probably would have enjoyed more. I expected more involved... more

After reading some of the reviews I had to tell all those that haven't explored the museum to the fullest to give it a chance. The Georgia natural history exhibits are poorly lit and really need updating. There were three exhibits/activity centers which seemed newer and were geared towards specific age group (preschool and under 10 years). Not much there for adults. IMAX movie was cool. Nice walking trails in woods around museum. more

If you don't expect much, you can enjoy this museum. I had time to kill and took my time really checking things out. I enjoyed myself, but I would not go to Atlanta just for this museum. This isn't a bad natural history museum, just average. The Walk Through Time in Georgia exhibit and the Giants of the Mesozoic were the only highlights to me.
