We tickets to the Atlanta History Museum included admission to this house if used within 9 days, so we went the next day. I wouldn't go if you had to just pay for this house. The guide was knowledgeable, but the apartment of 3 rooms isn't much. For the Mitchell fans only. There is also a movie on making the... More

Fascinating look into the life of America's beloved author. Tour of period style home from the late twenties. Loved reading the framed story written in her own hand at age ten.

Being a Gone With the Wind fan, I wanted to see where Margaret Mitchell lived. I had heard she referred to her home as "The Dump" but, upon visiting, it looked quite lovely and quaint to me. It was like stepping back in time, and exciting to see where Mrs. Mitchell lived and often worked!

this is a very small museum, I enjoyed it because I am a fan of GWTW. I didn't really learn very much at the museum that I didn't already know.

As said below, the museum is in the developing stages. That said, we learned a a great deal about Margaret Mitchell and Atlanta within the context of American writers during the 1920s-1940s. The tour guides add to the information that is already posted for visitors. The insights into Ms. Mitchell's personality, as reflected in her novel, were fascinating. Be sure... More

The museum is still "young" and doesn't have a ton of items, but we really enjoyed seeing what they had, viewing Mitchell's apartment and talking with our tour guide. I really hope they are able to secure some of Mitchell's furniture!

Didn't know much about Margaret Mitchell's life before this visit. What a lively and talented spirit. Seeing the tiny apartment where she and her second husband lived for seven years was a revelation. A must see experience for Gone with the Wind admirers.

Although the original burned during restoration several years ago, the recreated home at the original location warmly depicts the place where Mitchell wrote many of the pages of the book, "Gone With the Wind". Most visitors will find the stories and discussions of more value although the house is worth seeing (and seeing how the city has grown up around... More

History Southern Style!! One thing a LOVE about Southern museums is the Southern Style of History! You are guided through the house with authentic stories and listtle known tidbits of Margaret Mitchell and the making of "Gone With the Wind." Margaret Mitchell, in fact, was unimpressed by her Pulitzer Winning book! I'm happy to say, millions all over the world... More

There is a lot of effort to recreate what once was the home of Margaret Mitchell while she wrote Gone with the Wind, but unfortunately it is all recreation, from the home itself which was rebuilt twice after two fires to the furnishings. Only a few artifacts are from the author's own life. While a curiosity, there is not very... More
