We were very excited when we stumbled upon the Taftsville Covered Bridge in Woodstock, which spans the Ottauquechee River in Windsor County. Even better we were able to drive over the bridge. It is picture-perfect!

The river was a bit low due to the drought this summer but still beautiful. Easy access from multiple points, nice swimming spots and wading areas for little ones, and would offer nice kayaking during higher water.

We loved this whole area and the kids had fun wading in the cool shallows of the river. Beautiful scenic drives.

Nice covered bridges and wonderful scenery. This is not really an activity but an area to drive through. The nearby Billings Farm, Sugarbush Farm, and the gorgeous village square at Woodstock are also must see areas close by.

This is a long, wide river with small towns and villages along it. I particularly enjoyed visiting and photographing the bridges.

It was misty but we went down to the dam, it was worth the walk - very easy!. Only problem was taking pictures on the bridge, Husband afraid of heights.
