We were driving down from the hilltop village of Montefalco and passed this winery. The sign out front announced that it had been chosen by Wine Enthusiast Magazine as the European Winery of 2014. We made a U-turn and went back. There was just one other couple in the tasting room at the time, so we had a very personalized... More

The weather was bad but it didn't affect our visit to this home of great Umbrian wine. FABULOUS staff give you a great welcome, an interesting tour and a delicious wine tasting accompanied but local produce. The 25 Anni is a magnificent bottle of wine.

Stumbled upon the winery in our many drives of the phenomenal Umbrian countryside. The winery was a surprising highlight. Without advance reservations the pleasant staff went out if their way to have us join a winery small group tour if we could wait 20min. The anticipated group didn't show yet we were provided with a complimentary private tour in appreciation... More

We made a visit to Arnaldo Caprai a priority as I have been a fan of their wine for many years. The tour guide was very pleasant, friendly and spoke English. The tour begins with a short view of the nearby vineyards, crush equipment and cellar. Then on to the tadting room. Our guide opened up six or seven wines... More

with some friends spent some days in Montefalco and we had very good time at this winery. The beauty of the place, the warm welcome, an interesting visit and a very good wine tasting made the 2 hours we spent there really nice. And we have been really surprised when we knew wine tasting was free of charge! If you... More

According to the note on the door, someone would be back in 5 mins for the tour but no-one showed up. We waited and waited and eventually someone opened the door to the tasting area so we could be cooler - we were outside in high August temps. Still no-one showed. After waiting 25 mins we left. Apparently this place... More

Any wine trip to Umbria must include Caprai, in reverence to the foresight shown in the 70's to make a dry wine from the locally long-established sacred passito grapes, and give to the World one of todays greatest red table wines, and for which we are eternally grateful. And so it comes to pass. A host who, although charming, has... More

I toured the winery with my dad (by recommendation of our hotel in Perugia). The vineyard is beautiful and quiet. Our tour guide Irene was very friendly and patient, as well as knowledgeable about the wines. She took her time explaining the wine making process. We also participated in a tasting in which I sampled the most delicious wines I... More

This is a big, slick winery that deserves credit for leading the charge to put Umbrian wines on the global map. As the 2012 recipient of the European Wine Maker of the Year (and so the banner announces as you enter the drive way), this was a good place to start our day of winery tours. Our guide was quite... Our small tour operator (General Tours) arranged a private wine tasting/tour/luncheon here on our way from Florence to Rome. Although the weather was cloudy, the views of vineyards and surrounding countryside were heartwarming. The tour was personal, unrushed and friendly. The best part was the luncheon prepared on site with a regional palate that was delicious!! The wines were very,... More
