What a great art museum. We came by to see the special "Flower in Art" exhibit featuring Van Gogh, Monet and Matisse. It's a great exhibit and well worth the entrance fee. The rest of the museum was free. It's awesome. We spent more time in the Antiquities Section than the "Flowers in Art" exhibition. I just loved my time... More

We saw the Matisse, Renoir and Van Gogh still life display and it was spectacular. Afterwards we lunched in the cafe and then wandered around. What a wonderful way to wrap up our time in RVA.

We just loved this museum! Beautiful building, very light, airy, a lot of marble & glass... We especially liked their Special exhibition of XVIII-XX century European Flower paintings, including Renoir, Sisley, Manet, Monet, Van Gough, Matisse and many others. We also liked South Asian Art Exibit, furniture exibit and a lot of others. Their big cause of pride - The... More

Check out The Art of the Flower special exhibit that runs until June 21. Beautifully curated exhibit. Tip: take the audio option to enrich your visit experience. Don't miss the golden hare sculpture in the main entry. Before you leave, take a break and enjoy a snack from the cafe ( I know, not generally my thing either) on the... More

I have been here hundreds of times but never experienced like this. Extremely beautiful galleries, with very nice and striking pieces. Great traveling installations come to this gallery-even the permanent exhibits are great. Beautiful outdoor gazebo, great Restaurant on the top floor, nice snack bar with light alcoholic drinks. Wonderful waterfall and even cooler gift shop. Very neat way to... More

The VMFA is a must stop if you're in Richmond, have a little time and like art. Its holdings are free for non-members, and there's plenty to see. There is a non-member fee for rotating special exhibitions, which you may or may not find worth the expense. The building and grounds are beautiful, the cafe and restaurant are good and... More

Great art museum! It has a good layout and wonderful exhibits to please all interests. We got front row, street parking (which being from DC is highly valued).

This is a beautiful museum that was presenting a special exhibit of impressionist paintings of flowers. Very educational and lovely. I learned a great deal while there and it was a feast for the eyes. There is an opportunity to try your hand at sketching in one of the galleries.
