We can't believe this museum is free for the public. Thank you Commonwealth of Virginia! Excellent exhibits, beautifully displayed and wisely curated. The lighting and space are perfect for experiencing the art. Don't miss the Art Deco section, as well as the Asian and African exhibits, and especially the Forbidden City special show on for another few weeks. Take one... More

I was blown away by the quality and scale of this museum in a small city. If you have but s few days in Richmond, this should be on your list of things to see.

The Virginia Museum of Fin Arts in Richmond has outstanding permanent collections as well as new exhibits that are unique. Every time we visit, we find something different that we have not seen before. Their special exhibits often come to the VMFA as the only location on the East Coast which in itself is impressive considering the many art museums... More

We loved the "Water and Shadow" exhibit on Japanese wood block prints and the explanatory movie. We saw the Fobidden City, treasures of the Imperial Palace in Bejing. This beautiful and fascinating exhibit of Chinese art, clothing, furniture, jewelry was exclusive... More

A real find next to our B&B. I think it was free to enter and it had a great display of art which really suited a non-art lover like me!

For the size of Richmond it is an amazing museum and worth a trip to see the collection. It has a great restaurant too. The collection is very broad and fantastic. Dougthelebaneseguy

VA Museum of Fine Art added extra building in 2010, which holds special exhibition and a very nice restaurant and a cafe. We went to see Forbidden City - Imperial Treasure from the Palace Museum, Bejjing. This special exhibition has impressive collections in mint condition, totally worth the trip to see. VA Museum of Fine Art is the only museum... More
