I was somewhat disappointed with this tour. It is $6 for adults and discounted for children and seniors. 35 people fit in the boats and the canal tour lasts 40 minutes. It's cool being in a boat for a short bit...but there really isn't much to see at all. Our guide was in costume and shared a bit of historical... More

I wanted to find different things to do when my family visited from across the state. We started on time and the host/narrator was very knowledgable and kept your attention. It was breezy and warm. If you don't like the sun, sit toward the middle. It is covered, but sun comes in from the side. We saw a few large... More

In town for a weekend getaway and of course had heard about the Riverwalk. The 40 minute canal cruise was the perfect starting point, setting the stage to learn more about the Richmond canals- thanks, Cotton! Floating along on a canal boat replica we saw a large blue heron. Tip: plan to arrive a few minutes before the hour as... More

An interesting, inexpensive, 40 minute narrated tour of the canal. There are lots of nice eateries close by as well.

Kids love these easy going canal cruises down the Historic Richmond, Virginia Canal waterfront. The boats are covered for the summer and even spring heat and meaner along at a slow space. The cruises last about 40 minutes. Cost is minimal ($6 For adults and less for kids over 4). No need to book ahead and the line is not... More

The waterfront area of Richmond offers a great canal view of the James River and a view into what use to be the early era of tobacco industry in the downtown area. The city has developed the Riverwalk area into an urban hot spot area where condos and eclectic restaurants have sprung up everywhere. The canal cruise business is over-shadowed... More

Great tour for $6 and 40 minutes. You get a history lesson and to ride a canal boat up and down the canal that parallels the downtown front. There's some picture opportunities because it's a perspective-great for the price!

If you have not tried richmond canal cruise just give it a try seeing the canal and downtown Richmond on the canal is the best way to explore Richmond. It's a unique experience to see a side of Richmond that you can only see it by boat.

Cheap way ($6) to spend some time. Lots of interesting information about the canals and Richmond history but you can pretty much walk the short length of the canal tour on your own. Views are nothing special. Quite skippable. Oh, there is no bathroom at the docksite.
