This trip is OK if all you want to do is float slowly along the canal. There is not much to see besides elevated train tracks and snapping turtles. The commentary is pleasant but if you know anything about the area, not much historic or new information. However, it is pleasant, it is cheap $6.00 per adult - children and... More

We did this tour while touring the Richmond area. We paid six dollars per person and the tour was about 45 minutes long. The parking is plentiful but it does require a fee. The part of town this tour is in doesn't look too safe or inviting, but we had no negative experiences and never felt unsafe. The tour covers... More

This was a pleasant scenic and informational canal tour. Our guide was excellent and full of energy. You could tell he really enjoyed what he was doing. I learned a few things about the history of Richmond. Well worth the time.

This is an amazing value at $6 per person (less if you are a child or a senior, free if you are under 4). The tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave a lot of fascinating information about Richmond in a 40-minute tour. This is very different from your typical downtown bus/trolley tour. You see the buildings (and the train... More

This was a nice, money saving, activity. My husband and I went and thought it was delightful. Our tour guide was knowledgable and everything around was quiet. The only reservation I have is to look at the weather!

My mom and I did the canal tour last weekend on a beautiful spring day. It was a little shorter than I expected, but we enjoyed it nonetheless. Our captain had interesting facts about the area and I enjoyed getting a new perspective on Richmond. I would recommend doing it if you are in the area and are looking for... More

40 minutes down the canal with little to see. The guide was very enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and friendly but it just doesn't do it. The seating on the boat is very cramped, street noise made it difficult to hear what was being said. Okay only $6 but there were other things you could do.

Quite a disappointing experience. Our guide was enthusiastic, but difficult to hear. The trip along the canal was by the highway and railway, past Skid Row and was visually unappealing. The highlight was seeing snapping turtles. Even for $6 this is a trip I suggest you avoid

For only 6 dollars, you have to do this when in Richmond. We had a very friendly guide named Cotton. You do a small tour of a part of the canal, about 40 minutes. You learn a lot about Richmond. Worth it, just do it!

We stumbled upon this tour one Sunday evening while strolling down the Canal Walk. A tour was just about to pull out, and our guide stopped to allow us time to buy tickets and hop on. The price was pretty cheap ($5 for adults), and well worth the price of the history and scenery we saw. The tour guide was... More
