Learned a lot about the city of Richmond. Would recommend it a nice trip to find out about the city the past & present.

Cheap way ($6) to spend some time. Lots of interesting information about the canals and Richmond history but you can pretty much walk the short length of the canal tour on your own. Views are nothing special. Quite skippable. Oh, there is no bathroom at the docksite.

Had a great relaxing and informative time. Lots of interesting facts about the area. Kids loved it. They learned a lot about Richmond and relaxed at the same time.

I took my parents on this ride when they visited. It was interesting. You don't go very far and it is not that much of a scenic view. Just fair warning not what I was expecting from the name. That being said, for the price it is still good. You do hear a about the the history down there which... More

Two canal boats traverse the James River Canal with tour groups every hour starting at noon. Our tour guide/boat captain was very knowledgeable about the history of the canal and surrounding waterfront. First taking us west toward Tredegar and then east past the Holocaust Museum he pointed out landmarks and talked about their history, and alerted us to turtles resting... More

We stumbled on this quite by accident. We had wanted to take the trolley tour, which was full for the day. We also had an excellent tour guide! Pretty interesting,we enjoyed the cruise.

40 minutes seating in a small slow boat maybe suffering from heat . Not too much to say about the history of the Canal so the guide had to talk about Richmond and the civil war. Lovely but I wasn't there because of that.My opinion not too much interesting and you don't muove out to the James.I'd not suggest to... More

This is a fun thing to do when friends come to town. The guide really makes it. We had Cotton and he did a great job of teaching history and making it fun.

Richmond has done a nice job putting this part of the city together. The boat tour is about 40 minutes. It’s very benign. They seat about 35 per boat. There isn’t room to move on the boat. The tour runs up and back along the canal. You don’t move out into the James. Our tour guide, Aaron, was great. Very... More

This is a slow boat to nowhere. It is a 45 minute cruise down the canal while the driver explains the history of the area. The driver was quite good and it was very relaxing so if you have a little time to spare and are interested in a bit of history, this is not a bad thing to do.... More
