This is about a 45 minute ride where you learn about the value of the canal to Richmond. If you are lucky enough you get to see a few turtles and Herons along the way. It does not go to far up the canal to the city, but you do go quite a distance away from the city. Kids love... More

For $6, it's hard to beat this waterway history lesson. Our tour guide was Rusty and he had a lot of information about the history of the canal. The boat ride was 40 mins and was more than enough time to "cruise" this accessible portion of the canal. I think the boat was electric because the motor was fairly quiet.... More

Now, I went on the canal boat tour 3-4 years ago and I've learned alot. I only went because my wife wanted us to go but all in all, very informative about what Richmond was like 100 + years ago.

Took this tour with some college friends. It was a wonderful relief from the heat wave.It has a an awning. Interesting historical facts about Richmond. The water views are always different and better than the land views. Saw some wildlife. Tour guide was engaging. Don.t miss the boat!

I have been to Richmond several times, but had never been down to the canals. The whole canal/can walk area was a peaceful get-away from the city. The canal boats hold 35 passengers. Thankfully, it wasn't a full boat or it would have really been a tight squeeze. The whole boat is covered except for the front seats. If it's... More

Simple boat ride with ample narration of the Richmond canal area. Some wildlife viewing, attractive ride, good information (without being overly technical) about canal construction and Richmond history. Excellent activity for a pleasant day in spring/fall. 40 minute cruise, free for those 4 and under. Our three-year old rated it as "too long" but seemed to find it pleasant. Good... More

Our company had their summer outing on the Canal Cruise so we had a group rate which was very reasonable. Rusty was our tour guide and he was a wealth of knowledge. He explained history that even the locals did not know. His narration made many of us want to research more about RIchmond. It was definitely worth the money... More

I live in Richmond and took this with some family that didn't know much about Richmond. We all had a good time. I have to say it was because of the tour guide than it was what we say. His name was "Cotton" I have never forgotten it and he told us if we ever saw him to hollar down... More

Not what I expected but included very interesting historical information. The driver was very entertaining and made the ride fun. I'd recommend doing the canal ride but it's not really a "cruise ride". Just a straight up and back ride.

We didn't have any idea what or where we were going on our first real visit to Richmond(always just passing through on I95). We finally found a parking space and started walking. We wound up on the Canal and decided to take the boat tour. It was relatively short no more than an hour and was very interesting, entertaining, educational,... More
