It is so peaceful and everything on it seems to glide. We saw skullers and kayakers and people out on their canoes having a wonderful time. They only had to compete with the ducks for space.

Could not help humming "Dirty Water" while walking along the Charles, but it is anything but that these days! It is very busy with jiggers along the trails, kayakers and crew boats (especially during school seasons). You can meander across the river and back using several of the bridges. Beautiful picture taking from the bridges in the evening

The boat trip was a great way to see the Boston and Cambridge sides of the river. Excellent local knowledge of the boat staff provided interesting stimulation for future visits.

The Charles, as the locals call it, is often full of activity. One day we took a walk along the Esplanade starting in Beacon Hill area by the Union Boat Club. We watched from the Bridge as rowers lowered their boats into the river and began practice for the day. The scene of the rowers on the water as they... More

The Charles River divides the city of Cambridge from the city of Boston. It is the only place in the world where you can find a plane flying over a train riding over a car passing over a boat! Yes, the Charles River is unique for that alone. But you can choose any place along both sides of its banks... More

They've planted about a million daffodils that bloom in April. May brings cherry blossoms. Summer you will find two kayak/canoe rentals places. You have near 18 miles of jogging biking roller skating on both sides

Interesting trip up the river but not as good as the River Cam in Cambridge England. Host on boat trip was entertaining, but overall trip maybe a bit overpriced.

Kayaking the Charles was a great adventure for us. We spent about 3 hours kayaking down the river and then back again. It was a beautiful day and the scenery from the water was awesome !

The Charles River provides a natural boundary between the cultural city of Boston and the smaller university city of Cambridge. The bridge is about two miles long and crossing it on foot is itself an achievement but a worthwhile one, with fellow walkers coming from many different walks of life. It is quityte a cosmopolitan experience. From its centre you... More
