My favorite pass time is to either run, walk or ride along Charles River specially at the esplanade area. I never tried canoeing but always wanted to try it out and I was glad that I did when my daughter took me for my b-day. Once we got there a nice lady at the tent area handed us a clipboard... More

A great way to see the city! We had forgotten drinks, and were thrilled that they were selling water and Gatorage for only $2 each. Dry bags were availble to rent for only $1. The discount parking was a perk. The kayack's and pfd's were in excellent condition. Will definitely do this again in the fall.

We were so lucky the weather held so we could take this amazing tour via kayak. Our tour guide, Ed,caws knowledgeable and taught us a lot about the history of the city and the harbor. You don't need to be a seasoned kayaker to go on this tour. The staff is great. Loved traveling through the locks! Definitely add this... More

Kayaking out of the new tech towers area of Kendall Square can be fun and challenging in a good way. I've done this with a guide and without a guide. Either way it's a lot of fun, just try to stay aware of which way the wind is blowing. I'm no sailor, but if the wind is helping you go... More

So happy the river is clean enough to enjoy up close. There are nine bridges between Cambridge and Boston over the Charles River. This is a great way to view the iconic Leonard P. Zakim Bridge

We decided to kayak the Charles River and chose this location. They were very helpful in getting out and the experience on the water was awesome. You get out there and see all the cool sailboats with their sails out and other people kayaking. Very cool experience.

Our party of 6 arrived in the early afternoon to rent 3 two-person kayaks. Free parking Is available just above the area where the boats are put-in. We had no problem finding a parking place...and it was a Saturday in July! There were a handful of people ahead of us but this is a very efficient process. I am figuring... More

We recently kayaked on the Charles for the first time and it was an awesome experience. It can be tedious to actually get yourself on the water, but it's worth it. Try to arrive by 11 am to avoid long lines. We got there around 11:45 and waited about 10 minutes in line to take our quick safety quiz, and... More

(I haven't tried the Waltham location yet) The first thing we noticed is the long lines when we got there at 3pm. We were told that the wait was 45 to 60 minutes. Since we wanted to get on the water around 4:30, we went off to get a bite to eat along the Charles (Note #1: The options at... More

Having just had our plans to go biking along the Charles on a wonderful, warm, sunny Memorial Day shot by Hubway (they don't rent to families with kids intending to bike together), we sat on the riverbank at the Charles wondering what to do, when our 12-year-old daughter searching the web on her iPhone found the "paddle Boston" website. They... More
