We read lots of positive reviews about the lake but our personal experiences were far beyond expectations. We stayed in Bracciano so we visited the beaches there which were tiny, only max 30 umbrellas in 2-3 lines and mostly Italians are around, just a few tourists. The water is crystal clear, no motorboats and the view of Odescalchi Castle is... More

Bracciano is a charming little town with a castle overlooking the lake. The lake itself is beautiful from afar, and decent up close. Many birds in the lake make it not that appealing to swim in, however if you like still waters and semi-rocky sand, you'll find this place appealing. There are also many nice restaurants situated nearby and you... More

This lake is well worth a visit, but you need your own car. Good swimming, best from beaches at Trevignano and Bracciano lakefront. Plenty of good restaurants as well. The most picturesque town of the three lakeside villages and with a georgous promenade is Trevignano. Bracciano has the castle which is interesting enough although they only do guided tours and... We visited Bracciano in our last day in Italy. Cute city with tiny street. And lake, of course. Water in lake do clear and blue. I never saw so clear water before. You can swim in it. Also there are live swans:)

Delightful boat trip from Bracciano, calling at Anguillara and Trevignano. Beautiful scenery. Not at all commercialised though, no commentary, information or even sales of soft drinks or snacks.

From Trevignano the lake is serene and inviting with swans enjoying themselves at the lakeside. Grap a home made Italian ice cream and then find a nice lakeside restaurant and sip a choice wine with local goon Bueno !

Not very far from Rome, this lake is a good place for having a relaxing day. There are areas of the lake where swimming is allowed. Some people come here also for making a barbeque with families and friends.

Great views from the village. In summer it must be so refreshing. The situation is entirely natural and the borders of the lake aren't built up at all. There are plenty of hills so the view from houses must be magnificent.

What a wonderful Lake in a wonderful location. Beautiful weather, wonderful citadels surrounding the lake. An easy hour or two from Rome, it is worthwhile to go see this wonderful place away from the hustle and bustle of Rome. There are wonderful towns dotted all around the lake and we stayed in one overnight. Each has their own unique atmosphere,... More
