This used to be a great little zoo but that was years ago. The TA description says "300 animals" and maybe in someone's dreams is that true because there's certainly not 300 animals here. Many cages are bare and many enclosures inhabited by animals are unkempt. Many areas where there should be water are dry. Animals that were in view... More

We saw lots of animals. Wolves at play, peacocks showing their feathers, cougars, turtles eating, mocking monkeys, and a lot more. Gift shop is decent. Price is cheap. Well worth what there is to see. Lots of play ground equipment and picnic tables. We brought a cooler with water and sandwiches and had a picnic. Only 1 animal was MIA:... More

The zoo is small with a limited number of animals. My 5 year old enjoyed it while we were there. Don't expect to spend the whole afternoon there, maybe 45 minutes or so. The price was reasonable. We bought the family pass for $60 that is used for other zoos around the country. That was a great deal. They have... More

Definitely worth stopping if you're in the Springfield area. Smaller zoo (only took us about an hour to walk around), but they have some unique animals and you can tell they're taken care of well (always a fear of mine when you hear about the smaller places). There are some fun animal sculptures scattered throughout the zoo, you can get... More

We were excited to see the animals. Little did we know many of the animals were MIA!!! Bears-none; penguins- after looking through a very dirty glass window there was one hiding between barrels; tortoise---nada; spider monkey--Aldo missing. Perhaps the animals were still housed for winter. However, you would think there would be a sign stating such. We felt a little... More

Small, but a nice variety. Petting area, native species and a few unique exotics, South African penguins are a favorite. The peacocks roam free and are very entertaining.

Great little zoo! Good variety of animals to see and interesting facts posted about them. Fun little train ride enthralled the kids. A nice break from the plentiful museums in Springfield, and a worthy place to support!

I had a wonderful time at the Henson Robinson Zoo, 1100 East Lake Drive, on Saturday August 24, 2013. I was in town for a dozen other things and heard about this gem in Springfield, IL. The lemurs were very playful and an otter took a special liking to me providing a most delightful water show. The turtles were active,... More

WE ARRIVED IN SPRINGFIELD EARLY AND OUR HOTEL ROOM WAS NOT AVAILABLE. We had a few hours to kill and this little zoo was just the ticket. We had our 2 year old granddaughter with us and she just loved it. She especially enjoyed feeding the goats and the pond with swans, turtles and snakes along with the roaming peacocks.... More
