We were excited to see the animals. Little did we know many of the animals were MIA!!! Bears-none; penguins- after looking through a very dirty glass window there was one hiding between barrels; tortoise---nada; spider monkey--Aldo missing. Perhaps the animals were still housed for winter. However, you would think there would be a sign stating such. We felt a little... More

Small, but a nice variety. Petting area, native species and a few unique exotics, South African penguins are a favorite. The peacocks roam free and are very entertaining.

Great little zoo! Good variety of animals to see and interesting facts posted about them. Fun little train ride enthralled the kids. A nice break from the plentiful museums in Springfield, and a worthy place to support!

I had a wonderful time at the Henson Robinson Zoo, 1100 East Lake Drive, on Saturday August 24, 2013. I was in town for a dozen other things and heard about this gem in Springfield, IL. The lemurs were very playful and an otter took a special liking to me providing a most delightful water show. The turtles were active,... More

WE ARRIVED IN SPRINGFIELD EARLY AND OUR HOTEL ROOM WAS NOT AVAILABLE. We had a few hours to kill and this little zoo was just the ticket. We had our 2 year old granddaughter with us and she just loved it. She especially enjoyed feeding the goats and the pond with swans, turtles and snakes along with the roaming peacocks.... More

I took two teenagers here and we had a great time. It wasn't crowded and they had young people working throughout the zoo that were super friendly. They were taking some of the owls for walks around the zoo which was neat. This is a little zoo that doesn't cost much and we loved that it wasn't crowded. It offered... More

Although there are not a great number of animals at the Henson-Robinson Zoo, it's still a fun place to take kids, and there is a petting zoo that they will enjoy.

Henson Robinson is a small, small zoo. You can see everything in an hour. But it's a somewhat welcome break from larger zoos, where you spend all day and go into animal overload. There is a fair variety of smaller primates and mammals here. Bobcats are neat to watch; the peacocks strut about the place; and the muntjac are adorable.... More

My daughter was 18 mo old when we took her here. We have grown up around this area so both me and my husband are familiar with the zoo and have grown up coming to it often. So it was exciting to take our daughter here for the first time. We went during the week and there was hardly anyone... More
