This Capitol Building is remarkably designed in beauty! It's detailing and artwork are magnificent! While it is quite easy to get lost, there are several people who are stationed to assist. While I was there, I even got a selfie with the governor!

We all know that the state of Illinois is having financial problems, and our tour of their large and ornate Capitol building perhaps give some clue as to where the money went. Every surface, it seems, is either gilded, marbled, carved or friezed. They seem to take great pride and repeatedly mentioned, that their four-tier Technicolor dome (five if you... More

Most of the time the Illinois State Capitol is a buzz with activity. The interior is beautiful with the marble and solid wood filling th space. The murals and paintings that fill the Capitol are what you expect to find in a stately manor home vs. a state capitol. They are beautiful. The dome of stain glass rivals grand cathedrals.... More

Full of amazing art, marble, granite...and even gold! This building gives a peek into how our government operates. It is also the best representation of the US Capitol!

The “new” Illinois State Capitol was built in the late 1800’s in the Italian Renaissance Revival style. The interior is very ornate and one of the most beautiful capitols we have seen. Tours are available on the half hour excluding lunch time or you can wander around the first floor on your own but are not allowed upstairs unless accompanied... More

For me this is one of the nicer State capital buildings I've seen. They offer free tours and you can also visit the the congressional chambers. I enjoyed visiting very much.

My husband and I try to visit the state house of each state we visit. The Illinois State Capitol is one of the most beautiful we've visited to date. Tours are provided every half hour and we had a very knowledgeable and personable tour guide who made the visit even more memorable.

We did go inside but didn't take the tour. We just walked around on our own. The inside is impressive. The tour might be more interesting.

The Capitol campus site is a great place for large groups. There is a welcome center and a gift shop of course. It is history in real terms and a in beautiful building to boot.

This building is amazing. We worth a stop. Legislature was in session when we were there, and we stopped in for a look. Very cool.
