You could join a tour or do it on your own. Very historic building with some nice displays. We caught the tail end of a tour and it was very informative. Glad we stopped by.

It may not look like much from the outside, but the Old State Capitol is a very nice place to visit. The people who guide the tours and help manage the museum are very helpful and will answer any questions you may have.

The website doesn't really do this place justice. It is free to enter (although they suggest donations) - and there is so much to look at inside! They also have staff dressed up in period clothing to answer questions, do tours, and provide information. I was quite surprised. It was as nice as many museums I have been in. One... More

We love the Old State Capitol. It is a beautiful building with terrific period actors completing tasks and happily explaining the old time activities as dress. Nice to be able to enjoy the architectural structure and explore. Very informative plaques explain what each room was used for and what the different artifacts are. Went three different times between June 2012... More

Living history, free tours, what more do you want - this was excellent. The structure was restored to its natural looks. We could roam the building freely. Men were dressed as Yankee soldiers - women were in their 19th century dress. It was great
