if you love plants and looking for a tranquil and relaxing excursion, there is no finer place in Omaha than the Lauritzen Gardens. The garden train exhibit with its architectural miniatures of Omaha landmarks and architectural wonders of the world, alone, is worth the paltry $7 admission. When you get fed up with the exhausting long lines at the zoo,... more

As we did 2 years ago when we traveled to Omaha, we had some time to kill that would also keep our young kids entertained cheaply and would possibly wear them out some at the same time so they'd sleep later. For no cost we drove in, climbed the steps to check out the old trains sitting on the top... more

We were recently in the Omaha area and went to the Lauritzen Gardens. I had read reviews and thought that it would be a nice place to go. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. The indoor area is beautiful, with large potted plants and a koi pond, but once we headed outside and started down the path, we were increasingly letdown. The... more

I visited the gardens in mid-May 2007, expecting a large garden broken into multiple parts. I also wasn't entirely enthused about going to the gardens, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's actually a series of many separated gardens. Some of the gardens are very new and not developed, but others are very nice. The hosta garden was a great inspiration... more

This is a tranquil spot to relax and smell the roses. I visited the botanical gardens in May 2006 on a beautiful spring day. I first took the narrated tram ride to learn more about the gardens and get a feel for the place. After the tram ride, I explored the gardens on foot. The flowers smelled so good and... more

Visited the gardens during the hot summer of 2005, when some family were visiting from out of town. The prices were reasonable, the walking paths were well maintained and made it easy to get around. For an additional fee, you could take the tram which was helpful for those with limited mobility. The indoor garden was pretty. The outdoor gardens... more

I spent 2 hrs at Lauritzen Garden in Omaha. It is a very large indoor garden and exterior walking path. The $6 is well worth it. Hours are 9am to 5pm. A great indoor garden shop with color photos. It has a research library , and a picture like view from the million dollar visitors center. I noted pop and... more

A growing botantical garden of over 100 acres. Winter garden is mainly inside floral displays, but the spring, summer and fall are walking joy. Nine gardens are developed, but much more is available for development. The feeling of space in a city is wonderful as are views of the Missouri Valley and the open prairie skies. The cost is very reasonable... more
