The Joslyn Museum's Art Deco architecture is impressive at first sight. The main building was constructed in 1931 and a sympathetic addition built more recently. The permanent collections include a wonderful selection of old masters, American modern, western art, Native American paintings and artifacts, and contemporary installations. The museum also hosts important traveling exhibits. We enjoyed the American Modern exhibit... More

The temporary exhibits were terrific, but don't miss the grand lobby and fountain terrace. Millionaires of the interwar era made it glow with giant deco chandeliers. The permanent collection has beauties of early modernism and regionalism that are fresher to the eye than the interminably reprinted icons from Chicago and New York. It never ceases to delight me that cities... More

The collection emphasises the western United States with some very fine Remingtons, but it also offers viewers representative works from the tradition of European art, Monet, Pissaro, Rembrandt, and the like. It also has a very collection pottery from Ancient Greece. The building itself is described as Art Deco but it also has the clean lines associated with modernism. All... More

Wow! The European art collection at Joslyn is amazing. I wasted money on the short term exhibit when I should have focused on seeing the permanent collection.

We enjoyed the Joslyn very much. They had a very enjoyable temporary exhibit with paintings from the Brooklyn Museum. The permanent collection, free to visitors, is very strong in Western pieces with a wide variety of other art. The building itself is a treasure. Built in the early 20th C. , it is still in beautiful condition.

This is not a large museum and can be seen within a few hours. We love Chihuly art glass exhibits and this museum boasts two of them! They also have a fine collection of early American pieces which we enjoyed and the modern art section was inventive. The architecture of the building itself is a beautiful example of its era... The Joslyn Art Museum has some nice pieces; however, I was surprised by how few pieces it has. Overall, it was a nice museum, and I would recommend it.

A stellar art museum with a Degas and historic western art is this gem right in the heart of Omaha, Nebraska. Well-funded and well-loved - and now FREE, there is no reason you shouldn't plan even an hour tour of the amazing art on display here - well-cared for by docents that are very knowledgeable.

I loved spending a very cold winter day in this lovely building. The museum is big, with plenty to see, and seems to have something for everyone. The free admission policy really impressed me; it's wonderful that the collection is available for all to see.
