For the money this tour costs, it is a must see. Since it is only about a 35 minute drive from Vegas, it is convenient, too. We made the short trip (about 35 minutes) to Hoover Dam from Vegas on 8-27-07. Very beautiful sights and some great picture opportunities. The tour was okay but not a necessity (esp. for $11 per person). You can walk all over the place without the tour. It is probably not a "must see" but if you have a little down... more

We stopped in at the Hoover Dam on our way to Las Vegas. Interestingly, we were stopped (along with all other traffic) at a checkpoint a few miles away. It appeared that there was a similar checkpoint coming from the other direction, so I'd assume that this is a post-9/11 security precaution. In any case, it only slowed us down... more
