This was a fun and at times strenuous hike which is close to Anchorage. The trail is clearly marked for the majority of the hike, with a less clearly defined trail up the scramble near the top. For the top part, you need to scramble over some loose rock and boulders, requiring you to use all fours. If you are... More

This was not the moderate hike I had expected. It can be very difficult to find the trail near the top, although we were also doing this hike while in a cloud so that might have added to our difficulties :) Once on top, of course we couldn't see anything but it was interesting that it's so flat! I wouldn't... More

didnt really hike the trails, just walked the short ones to the overlook spots to take a few group pics, the road getting there can be a little steep, but worth it, would not recommend going in winter , close to the Zoo. great place to just take the few min walk to go and see above Anchorage. it gets... I had no idea this would be such a fun but challenging hike. We had to make this a 2 day trip to gather our strength to make it to the top but boy was it worth it.

This is a must do if you have never done this hike. I'm not an athlete so it took me about 3 hours from start to finish. That includes some pic taking and such at the top. My legs were burning so if you're not use to going up, be prepared.

This is a great hike. Use the Downtown Bike Shop Shuttle to get to and from if you don't have a car.

I don't get out and exercise like I should so this hike is a little strenuous for me but not for most everyone else. Regardless of how far you go the scenery is just magnificent and well worth the trip. Don't miss it.

The trail leading up to the top of the mountain is a little over 3 miles. It involves a lot of incline, and towards the end you have to grab at rocks to hoist yourself up. There are also a lot of stair-like steps and areas where there are loose rocks. Proper hiking attire should be worn, and families with... More

We did this on 1 Sept. Amazing Hike. Very different than a lot of hikes I have done. You will see amazing views from the top. As others have mentioned the last part does involve a lot of scrambling. We did it for 3/4th but then came down. Even if you don't do the last part doing before it is... More

Great views from the top of Flattop. The trail was strenuous in some spots, but relatively short and some great exercise. There are a lot of social trails near the top, so if there are only a few hikers it takes some time to figure out the best path to the top - not well marked in the later stages.
