The last performance was enhanced by a talented, and beautiful, Russian guest pianist. Also, the pre-concert informal talks of Maestro Randy Fleisher are welcombed by more than one group at luncheons, library, schools, etc. to inspire attendance. The performances are always well received, and the Atwood Concert Hall is generally sold-out. The upcoming "Legend of Northern Lights" should be equally... More

Whether listening to one of their classical evenings or a night of the "Beatles" or "Queen", ASO is an excellent local symphony. World Class director.

In previous years I thought the woman who sang was okay, and her voice wasn't suited to every song. This year I found her to be extremely pitchy and screeching. I would recommend they hire a new singer. I think one of the violinists would agree, she was plugging her ear during one of the songs.

I love the symphony and have attended many in many places over my 59 years. ASO is up to par. It's not the Boston Pops, but they have talent and a wonderful director. i personally know a trumpeter now with the orchestra who is amazing! They have a varied repertoire for the seasons from serious to pop compilations. I go... More

We saw Holst The Planets at the PAC and the orchestra was really good. I have some good recordings of this piece and they did not disappoint me. Sound was excellent and accompanying commentary and visuals were really engaging. Good strings and decent wind sections. Seating and crowding before and after performance were AWFUL. This venue needs a bit of... More

The ASO is one of the most exciting places to visit in Anchorage. We started out going as part of a Humanities course, and have been regulars ever since. For such a small city, the symphony is out of this world!

I think the quality of the orchestra is very good, especially for the size of the city & area they have to draw upon. They do their own performances but also play for many visiting productions. It is a nice amenity to have.

When we moved to Anchorage from Seattle, we thought we would not be able to enjoy the type of Symphony experience we were used to. Boy were we wrong! This orchestra is conducted by Randall Craig Fleischer and it is apparent that he imposes strict discipline on the musicians. Some small community orchestras can be described as playing good music... As a lifelong lover of classical music, I was curious to see if the Anchorage Symphony could deliver memorable performances. I was not disappointed. All of the orchestral musicians were very talented, as is the conductor. Their renditions of Gershwin and Copland were fantastic- so much so that I'm going to buy season tickets! Alaskans owe it to themselves to... More
