I am setting in the dining car writing this as our trip from Anchorage to Fairbanks comes to a close. I wouldn't have believed last years trip could have gotten any better, but I was wrong. The entire experience from booking to the trip was perfect. We had beautiful weather all days with clear skies and plenty on sunshine. The... More

Riding the Alaska Railroad is an adventure that shouldn't be missed!!! We took the train from Girdwood to Seward and went through areas and valleys that are only accessible by train. It was breathtaking scenery and the picture taking was a full time job. The service and staff on the train was outstanding and they even gave a narrative for... More

We used the train to get to Spencer Glacier for rafting. It was a cool experienced to be dropped off at a "whistle stop" station in the middle of nowhere and then wait for the train at the end of our rafting. We got to ride the train into Whittier too as part of the route. We'd love to go... More

Together with two friends we took the 6.00pm train to Anchorage and what a wonderful journey it was! We waited in the cosy, heated waiting room until we could board the train at 5.00pm and then braved the cold wind to board. We had decided to pay a little more for our tickets to get seats in the glass dome... More

It is hard to come to grasp with the vastness and complexity of Alaska without traveling on ground level. In Southeast Alaska, that meas the ferry system. Along the "Railbelt," that means either the road system or the railroad. Superlatives fail to describe the scenery the train passes through. Tunnels, mountain passes, glaciers, this railroad has it all. Just ignore... More

We decided to take our parents who were visiting on the scenic trip to Seward. I highly recommend getting the Goldstar seats, it is well worth the upgrade. With Goldstar seating, your roof is a big, see through dome which adds to your experience and you also get first dibs on going down to the dining area. We saw moose,... More

We took the line from Anchorage to Denali, and agree with the positive reports of others. BE AWARE, THOUGH; GPS signals are blocked by the glass of the dome car. According to one of the attendants, this is due to the chemical makeup of the glass. My camera's gps was unable to connect inside the car, but worked *flawlessly* when... More

Our family took the Aurora Winter Trail from Fairbanks to Anchorage on Sunday, December 18. It was a pleasant and scenic activity that we are so happy we did. Check in at the Fairbanks station was easy and arrival and luggage pick up in Anchorage went smoothly. The stations and trains were clean, comfortable, and well kept. This was our... More

On Sunday 14th of December 2014 my wife and I took the Alaska Railroad train from Fairbanks to Anchorage. We arrived to a clean and well lit Fairbanks station with a most helpful staff who checked our bags and made us welcome. The train departure was about ten minutes late but we were kept well informed of this. On boarding... More

We took this from Denali to Fairbanks. The seatsvwere very comfortable and the view spectacular with some occasional wildlife seen. We had breakfast this trip and it was very good. The tour director was knowledgable and fun. A few days earlier we rode the train from Anchorage to Denali And had the lunch option which was also very good. All... More
