I only had two full days in Alaska and wanted to make the most of it so after checking several options for 1 night 2 day tours I ended up choosing two of their day trips: Anchorage to Seward + wildlife tour and their Real Alaska Tour. I choose Gold Star service one way and Real Adventure for the returning... More

We bought a package deal combo of train ride to Seward and a wildlife tour. I would highly suggest the gold because you get to see a lot of things and its just awesome. We had a little delay because there was an earthquake, no biggy because it is for our own safety.

Traveling on AK trains is NOT to be confused with riding on Amtrak. The train is worth riding just to ride. The scenery is breathtaking and the train slows to point out bear, moose and other wildlife along the way. The staff is knowledgable, helpful and friendly, The food in the dining car Excellent and the bar car makes many... More

We were excited for that last day of our Planet Earth Adventures - Northern Lights tour, Fairbanks to Anchorage on the great Alaska Railroad. After boarding was delayed nearly an hour, Alaska Railroad announced a catastrophic failure with one of the cars and were seeking ~70ppl to volunteer to take the bus. They initially offered a 50% refund to those... More

We love riding trains and this one was no exception. It's a tourist train so it lumbers along at a relatively slow speed so you can enjoy the magnificent, and I mean magnificent, scenery. The cars have glass domes for scenery viewing, a great dining car to catch a meal or a drink and even open air cars for taking... More

I can't give it a 5 but that's not all on the ARR's doings... Can't beleive the hospitality and friendliness of staff on the trip from Anchorage to Seward and back! Met some nice folks employed there and met some nice passengers as well! Plenty of photo opportunities along the beautiful ride- this is an opportunity one won't want to... More

We rode the Aurora Winter Train on May 2, 2015, 12 hours from Anchorage to Fairbanks. The trip exceeded our expectations. We were one week early for Gold Star Service, but not sure if we would take the offer in the future. We had assigned seats which allowed us to leave jackets, etc. when we chose to walk around or... My husband and I rode the "Hurricane Turn Train". We boarded the train in Talkeetna and rode it to Hurricane Gulch and back to Talkeetna. One of the best train rides I have ever taken. We saw moose, eagles and bears as well as several characters from the "Railroad Alaska" show. All of this made for a thoroughly enjoyable ride.... More

The trip was great! Interesting information and facts were given by Daniel, from the crew. The crew also made sure to point out any wildlife seen along the way. We saw moose, caribou and Dahl sheep. The food was outstanding also. My only complain was that the windows should have been washed in Fairbanks for the return trip back to... More

From Anchorage to Fairbanks. April 2015, which is part of their Winter schedule. a *fabulous* 12 hour trip. Scenery. Animals. Tour guide (unexpected announcements along the way). I have never been on a train that slows and stops for the passengers to look out the windows at animals or scenery - but this one does.
