After our first taste of Alaska via cruise ship a few years back, my wife and I were determined to see more of this indescribably beautiful state. One of my coworkers had lived in Alaska for several years, and her recommendation was all I needed for a train trip!.. We decided to fly from Knoxville, TN to Fairbanks on Monday,... More

The Alaska Railroad with its GoldStar Dome passenger service is a pictorially rewarding means to see and photograph Alaskan scenic landscapes and wildlife. As a photo enthusiast, twice I traveled via the Alaska RR GoldStar Dome service--first from Anchorage to Seward and the second time from Fairbanks to Denali. The service was truly first class from its upper dome level... More

I enjoyed the trip from Fairbanks to Talkeetna on a sunny late August day. It might have been different on a dull wet day. We traveled normal fare or 'Adventure Class' as they call it. In my opinion there is no need to spend any more as there are viewing cars available too at this price level. We brought a... More

This is a day of one of the most beauiful views in this country. We took the dome car to enhance the view. We also participated in the dining opportunity and took several trips to the open-air portion to take even better pictures. We were disappointed that we didn't see any moose or bear, but we saw eagles, and trumpter... More

Hundreds of people rode the Anchorage to Seward train that day I went. Beautiful scenery but tough to stomach the callous attitude about recycling. They don't do it! "It's too much work with so many people," one crew member told me. Of course that's exactly why they should recycle. All those plastic water bottles they sell tossed into the trash... More

The train was more than we hoped for. They took our luggage at the depot and we didn't see it again until it arrived in our cabin on the ship. The ride itself is simple beautiful. Spctacular views...we were even treated to a rainbow. The train is clean and seats are comfy and spacious. Announcements and tourist information are loud... More

This train is flagged down for locals out of Talkeetna AK. It was so interesting and beautiful fall colors despite the rain. It was hunting season and hunters stopped the train to load their moose catch and gear from camping. There are no roads nearby so the train is the only way people who live there can get to Talkeetna.... More

We took the Gold Line all the way from Anchorage to Fairbanks. We were led to believe that this was a first class ride all the way. Well, it wasn't worth the money! The scenery is gorgeous, but it may have been better to drive. At least you can stop and take pics and not be moving. You can only... More

We booked 3 day trips on the train and it was its own experience that added to the vacation. We were on 3 different trains over the 3 days and each was great! My favorite was the Delani train but would not miss any of them. The staff was excellent and so was the food. My mother felt like lifestyles... More
