Rode the train for the second and third time. Always a great ride from Seward to Anchorage. Goldstar service is the best. Was a little disappointed in the service from Anchorage to Fairbanks, but the manager took good care of us once we voiced our displeasure with the wait staff. Looking forward to the Aurora train in February.

A very scenic trip through to Denali. Saw the mystical Dr Seuss house and kept a keen eye out for moose in the distance. We managed to see 3 or 4. We had gold star service and the glass dome and viewing platform made for wonderful views.

We took the the train to Seward for our cruise connection. The views were fantastic, the workers on the train were both friendly and knowledgable. A little expensive, but well worth the cost, as you could always look out the windows or the dome car. Much better than driving and missing so many great views. I would take that trip... More

Very scenic trip from cruise disembarkation in Seward to Anchorage. A nice relaxing trip at the end of our cruise. Somewhat expensive but the views and scenery were terrific.

Catch the 6pm train from Seward to Anchorage. The sun is at a great angle in the summer in the evening on this route to see some spectacular scenic views in Alaska that you will not see from just taking a car on the Seward highway. Highly recommend going with the Gold Star dome car option. The outdoor 2nd floor... More

We rode the railroad from Talkeetna to Denali and it was wonderful. We were lucky as the train was not crowded so there was plenty of room and we could enjoy the wonderful views. We also rode the Wilderness Explorer Dome car from Denali to Anchorage-it was a wonderful experience. Don't expect to see great views all the time-sometimes it's... More

We recently visited friends in Chugiak , Alaska. One of the great experiences we enjoyed was the train ride from Anchorage to Seward. Boarding etc, was very well coordinated and completed quickly. We rode in the Gold Star dome cars and had almost a panoramic view of the exterior. If you are looking for a fast ride, don't take the... More

Recent (enforced... LoL; thank you dear wife.) holiday to Alaska and then via ship to Vancouver. Stunning Country - wild and beautiful - sea voyage was a source of many amazing sites (although I love the sea, not keen on the "Cruise ship culture...). One jarring note: Apparently safety of airline passengers is not a concern in the US of... More

We rode in the GoldStar dome cars from Fairbanks to Denali, then Denali to Anchorage. It's a long, slow trip. Very slow and very long. Once you've seen black spruce and white spruce and alder and willow trees, plus the rows of telegraph poles, there isn't much more except miles of the same. If your destination is Denali, fly or... We were told not to miss the train ride from Denali to Anchorage. It was OK, but very, very slow and long. We flew into the Denali backcountry (Kantishna) a few days earlier on a charter plane, which was fast and provided breathtaking views. Perhaps if we had done that second, the train trip would have been more interesting. I... More
