My mom and I enjoyed our Ididaride in Seward in late September 09. I know some reviews said it was smelly and lame, but we found it fun. The musher, Danny, was entertaining and knowledgeable, and the dogs are wonderful. I suggest that the previous reviewer, who admitted not knowing anything about mushing dogs, think and learn before sending a... more

The sled dog ride was great. It was fascinating to learn about how the dogs have been bred for speed and stamina as well as their training and what goes into the Ididarod. The Women and Children love the puppies, but we all agreed the finishing video and presentation could stand a lot of improvements more

I thought the tour was informative and the dogs were great.... but I do not feel that it was worth $59 per person. The dogs get excited when they see people and are great on the ride, but the films at the end clearly need to be updated and the presentation of the equipment is a little tired. Of course,... more

From England. We arranged this trip in our "free" day before joining a cruise to Vancouver. Takes about 40 mins to get to Girwood from Anchorage. The trip up to the glacier in the mountains (pilot and 3 passengers) using a small helicopter was exciting. There were 50+ dogs waiting for us, all barking and wanting to be chosen! The... more

It's obvious sled dogs love their jobs, and being a trainer/breeder of working dogs, I understand the conditions and regimen dogs with a physical job are kept under. Tie outs and kennel 'smell' doesn't bother me. Still, I was concerned for these dogs (Seward Ididaride). Our group was told right away that we'd probably think the dogs were skinny, but... more

Please be aware this company offers a sled dog rodeo in Anchorage and a sled dog ride near Seward. Our family went to both and found the rodeo a lot of fun with commentary on the Ididarod preparation and demonstrations by the dogs, along with a little humor. You also meet and hold the puppies. We were not as impressed... more

I am a lifelong Alaskan and BIG Iditarod fan, and I have heard about this show for some time but never made it until this summer when I had family in town. We went to the 6:00 Dinner show it was great!!! The waters and waitress are actual Iditarod mushers that answer questions during dinner then once everyone was done... more

We booked this tour because of the reviews on tripadvisor and I wanted to confirm that this was perhaps the most fun part of our Alaska adventure. Yes, the scenery is breathtaking in Alaska, but you will never convince my 11 yr old daughter that there is anything better to do than ride on the back of a dog sled... more

While we were in Seward for a Kenai Fjords day-cruise we stopped by Ididaride and caught the last tour of the day. There were 85 worker dogs and they started barking like crazy when they saw us, as they were so excited to practice their "sledding." There was a brief introduction to the sport & the tour guides were very... more

We drove down the Kenai Penninsula with the express purpose of doing the Ididaride, and we were not disappointed! We got to meet all the 'younger' dogs who are in training. Then they loaded us into wheeled sleds and hitched up a team of VERY excited dogs. Then we got a 2.5 mile ride, which is great training for these... more
