We just completed a trip to England and France. The day we spent with Elwood on the D-Day tour in Normandy was the highlight of our trip, hands down. It is moving enough to see Omaha and Utah beaches, Sainte Mere Eglise, and the US cemetary, but Elwood's insights and knowledge make it so much more memorable and personal. He... more

Our travel agent booked us a D-day tour with Normandy Sightseeing Tours. I was a little ill in the morning so we called them and asked our guide to come a little later. They were very accommodating and had our private guide come in the late morning. We were staying at the Chateau La Cheneviere in Port-en-Bassin Normandy (superior hotel)... more

We discovered Ellwood von Siebold and D-Day Battle Tours on the internet. The reviews were glowing. We were not disappointed. My wife and I took a private, 8 1/2 hour tour with Ellwood, starting in his home with many maps and photos to describe the area, the mostly forgotten individuals who did much of the intelligence and planning, the preparations... more

We travelled to Normandy on April 18 for a few days. Michael Phillips met us for one of the most informative and interesting tours of any historic spot. My husband and i travel a great deal and use guides on many occasions. He was understated in his delivery of information but on point with regard to questions and knowledge. We... more

I recently had an extraordinary experience visiting Omaha Beach, Point du Hoc, and the cemetaries of D-day with the finest tour guide I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Michael Phillips agreed to guide me when the first guide had another commitment. I am so glad this happened. I have travelled extensively, am a Marine combat veteran, and a... more

I was recently on the Paris / Northern France tour via Rick Steves. One of the stops was the D Day Beachs and surrounding area. We made a stop and picked up the 'local guide' for the day. What luck: Michael's knowledge and story telling skills gave us all new insights. His perspectives on the battlefield contingencies at the time,... more

I just returned from France with my family (wife & 2 teenage daughters 18 & 16) and the highlight of OUR (not just mine) trip was the day we spent with Ellwood of “D-Day Battle Tours” in Normandy (February 16, 2009). Ellwood’s knowledge and presentation style really clicked with all of us. His passion & enthusiasm for his work really... more

Don’t miss this experience of a lifetime tour. We’d been to Normandy and the landing beaches before on a tour but this time were traveling with 2 other couples who had not. We only had one day and wanted to see as much as possible. I read about Eric online and after some discussion decided to book him. We went... more

Ellwood was a fantastic host. Keep the 9 hours very interesting from start to finish. His insight and knowledge of specific events of D-Day made the days tour come to life. His tour is a must if you want a first class tour of the beaches. If you have a choice----travel to his headquarters at St. Mere Eglise and join... more

I wrote a review on his website. Took it as part of a Rick Steves tour. It was the highlight....he brings the DDay events down to specific individuals; his knowledge is second to none. Top notch. I've traveled a lot, and this tour was the best I've ever been on. Wish it had lasted for days. more
