I bought a yelp deal for myself and my boyfriend to go try Hipcooks. They have a huge selection of classes and food types. We decided on the Greek class, as both of us like the food, but haven't really ever cooked it. The class was from 6-9, so most people came straight from normal 8-5 jobs. There were about 14 people in the class and everyone gathers around a semi circle island. I had expected more of an instruction type class, but it was more like an interactive cooking show. The teacher, Bonnie, would give everyone a task and you would work on a step, taking turns if you wanted to. It was fun, but not super informative. Also, by the time we got to eat, at 9pm, we were STARVING! Who would have thought you need to eat before you come, but you should. With all the things we made I expected there to be more food for everyone to have, but there wasn't a huge amount. I wasn't hungry afterwards by far, but I would have liked to have had a little more. For the price, its a little to much to do often, but if you can get a deal, its a fun night. We both decided it was something worth doing once, but that was probably good for us.
Bonnie, the instructor, was great. Very knowledgeable and upbeat.

I received a gift certificate from family for a cooking class with Hipcooks in Seattle. After looking at the extensive classes offered my husband and I choose the Indian Class. We were defiantly not disappointed. The teacher, Bonny, made this cooking class very informative and comfortable. The class was more like a dinner party with new friends and we both enjoyed ourselves immensely. It is an excellent way to learn cooking techniques (all from smell, taste, etc.) without relying on a recipe. I would highly recommend this class. The only negative is that there were no stools to sit on while cooking etc. Our feet were a bit tired after standing for a few hours.

Reserved an evening at Hipcooks as a client appreciation event. The event could not have turned out any better. Bonnie was our guide and she is awesome. Not only is she a great cook, but she knows the chemistry behind why foods work together, There were 13 in our group and she knew everyone's name within about 10 minutes. It was mainly a group who did not know each other - Bonnie did a great job managing the guests, getting everyone involved and helped people to open up and begin talking among themselves. Then there was the food! It was a perfect event and a whole lot of fun. Actually so fun that I have booked another evening as a Christmas party for my friends. It would also make a great birthday party.

I was so excited to take this cooking class with my husband to celebrate our anniversary. It was so disappointing! The instructor provided very little direction. She struggled throughout the night and wanted the participants to wing it. There were no recipes provided as guidance and it showed. The food was not tasty and we didn't know what to do to make it better. With so little time in Seattle, I wished we had spent our time and money on something else. I would not recommend this cooking class.

Hipcooks is totally awesome. Thiis is not a stuff type of cooking class. The focus is having a hands-on cooking experience while having fun, learning some new stuff and meeting new people. Oh I did not mention the cocktails or alcohol pairing with the food prepared in the class - perfect!
The classes are well organized and the instructors are fun and make the classes interesting. Bonnie is a fantastic instructor. You don't spend a bunch of time doing prep work - it is done before you arrive. You do learn about food preparation, short cuts, using spices and pairing them with appropriate flavor profilles. You will also learn cooking techniques and possibly how to use cooking equipment that you have not used before.
All of the items prepared during your class, you will be tasting and have an opportunity to eat while there. After the class the recipes are emailed to you. Bon appetit!

Had my daughters wedding shower here with 18 people. What a wonderful time everyone had. Bonny was amazing to work with and the food she picked for the event was so fresh right from the pike place market....everyone is still asking for the recipes from the event and talking about how much fun it was.

Took a Thai cooking class with girlfriend and loved this experience! Along with 8 other couples we made a complete meal, drinks and then all sat down to share what we made, get to know each other and take recipes home.
We then tried same recipe at home...and wowzas was good. We're now bona fide Thai food cooks!
Highly recommend for something experiential, fun and educational all st same time plus kind of romantic cooking and feeding each other all night. Awesomeness.
