There's a delicious way to enjoy Seattle's "other bean" and see the city. Take The Chocolate Box Experience for a morning of chocolate education and plenty of sampling from some of Seattle's most famous chocolatiers. The same people who brought you the wildly successful Tour de Chocolat have created a new event that will entertain, educate and make you a real chocolate “snob”! We’re calling this fun morning The Chocolate Box Experience!Your experience begins at 9:00 at Chocolate Box, our temple to the Cacao Gods. One of our expert staff will greet you with possibly the world’s best hot chocolate from Seattle’s own Chocolat Vitale, good even on summer mornings. We then begin with a short overview of how and where cacao is grown, along with lessons on the right way to eat fine chocolate. Your “snob” training has begun! You’re then placed on a luxury van for a short and scenic ride to a chocolate factory tour at Theo Chocolates in Fremont, the country's only bean-to-bar, organic and fair trade chocolate factory. Willy Wonka would be proud! Your factory tour is wonderfully educational and full of samples of most of Theo’s world-famous bars. After your factory tour, your van transports you back to Chocolate Box via another scenic route around Lake union (your out of town visitors will love the unique Seattle sights). The fun has just begun! Now you get to make your own chocolate treats as we show you how to melt chocolate and properly dip fun things to make yummy confections … like pretzels, oreos, or fruit. Once you’ve licked all that mouth-watering chocolate off your fingers, it’s time to learn how to make a genache courtesy of Julian Rose, head chocolatier at Moonstruck Chocolates of Portland. Through the magic of video, Julian welcomes you to his private test kitchen and teaches you the critical subtleties of making the perfect truffle. We then get a private look into the very secretive Moonstruck factory to see how they make their magical and delicious confections … followed by samples of their creativity. Yum!Your experience ends with a thank-you bag of chocolate samples from our store as well as a generous shopping coupon … a coupon that’s also good at our sister store next door, Simply Seattle, the best place in town for souvenirs and gifts that scream “Seattle”!

We were drawn in by the 'Chocolate and Wine on Pine' sign and we were thrilled that they had both wine & chocolate tasting -- it was our best experience of the day!! My friends and I each tasted 3 wines and one of them paired it with a chocolate tasting -- fabulous! The owner, Cathy spent a great deal... More

My husband and I just wandered in to look around. We decided to try 3 local wines which were paired with handmade chocolates. Chris did an excellent job of explaining some details of the local wine industry and was very enthusiastic! We will definitely stop in again, and possibly look into what else is offered here the next time we... More

I attended a chocolate truffle making class and it was fun and informative. I will never look at chocolate the same and just any old chocolate won't do anymore. Highly recommend taking a class but at least visit the store while in the area.

We booked the Tour de Chocolate through this company. The day we were to go, the driver was sick, so we never got to do the Theo factory tour part, but the hosts at the Chocolate Box went out of their way to make it up to us. Had a great presentation on the history of the cacao bean and... More

I went on the Tour de Chocolate and really enjoyed it. The Tour de Chocolate has three parts: It starts with a talk about cocoa and the origins of chocolate from fruit to bean, then off to Theo Chocolate for a tour of our own bean-to-bar chocolate factory, and finally a hands on segment where you make your own chocolate... This little shop is excellent. They carry the finest chocolates, a wonderful selection of wines, and have staff that can answer any question about either.

The Chocolate Tour we did with The Chocolate Box was one of the highlights of our recent Seattle trip. It was fun, unique, and memorable. Being a huge chocolate fan, I learned a ton about how my favorite treat is made & then got to see the process firsthand at the Theo chocolate factory. Then came the best part -... More

My only negative thing to say about this place is that I only found it on my last night in town. I've been disappointed by other chocolate cafes, but this place is OUTSTANDING! I was drawn in by the A frame on the street announcing "sipping chocolate." The manager at the bar explained the options, and we immediately started talking... More

We discovered Chuao's Firecracker chocolate bar here and we are addicted! The salesman there was really friendly and kind--he informed us that we can sample any of the chocolates in the store, and the samples are quite big! We had the brownie brittles and nibs, but the one that stood out the most was the firecracker chocolate bar. Some of... More
