I finally went here after years of being in Seattle. It is huge, beautiful and has a lot to offer. I like the parts along Lake Washington, those can get muddy so wear things you would be ok with if it got a bit of mud on it.

In the arboretum are multiple types of gardens, including the well know Japanese gardens. Any time of year is worth going, but spring in amazing with every thing that is in bloom,

It's like a mini-panama canal. The views are beautiful and you can talk with the boaters passing through. When the salmon on running, it's fun to see them climb the ladder. It's a great place for a picnic.

Highly recommend, including the Japanese Garden, the latter had a $6 admission fee and was worth it. Nice way to spend a few hours.

This is a gem of an urban wilderness, part of U of WA (lovingly called U-dub by Seattlites). You can stroll through trails lined with trees and flowers, and hike all the way out to the shore over a series of bridges that cross two island. For a real treat, visit early in May when a long path is filled... More

The map for the park is not very helpful. Many of the trails aren't marked so its a mystery to see where you end up. I really enjoyed seeing what I saw, but apparently, I missed a large portion of the park. The vibrant flowers and trees is a wonderful site to view at any time of the year. I... More

Not being from Seattle, the tree density is amazing. This arboretum struck me more like a state park than an educational and scientific collection. Yes the University of Washington does do work in the park. I was expecting unique trees and clearly identified species, even info boards with little tid bits about the trees and shrubs. There is a New... More

No matter what time of year, there is so much to explore in the Arboretum. Hang out near one of the stone bridges and watch overheight vehicles bottom out (look for the scars). Seems like everytime I walk there, you hear another truck or RV hit these. :-(

Brilliant for a sunny day. Lots of areas to stop and sit in both shade or the sun. It wasn't crowded in the least and the water trail over the islands is good for a bit of nature spotting. The Japanese gardens are cheap and small, worth a look for the fish and turtles.
