Alki Beach is at the north end of the West Seattle area. People gather, certainly on lovely days, for sunset views and the lights going on in downtown Seattle. A good choice of Restaurants and watering holes along the coast road, but it is busy.

I am giving this beach a 2 only because we are used to the beaches of the gulf coast in Florida. The beach is rocky and the algae plentiful. There is cool looking drift wood if you are into that sort of thing, but it wasn't what our kids were expecting nor wanting for a visit to the beach. We... More

A great place to sun bathe when we have sun and a little to cold for a swim but if you a diver its perfect with good dive shop,s close by and some big octopus and other sea life and a wet suit is good but dry suit is better.Parking can be hard to find.

Maybe I'm just spoiled by other US beaches, but I didn't care for the beach itself. It was small, so it was really crowded, even on a Tuesday afternoon. The seaweed smells bad, and it just wasn't that pretty. But the 2-mile trail from the water taxi dock was beautiful, right on the water, with views back to Seattle. I... More

My boyfriend surprised me by taking me here. And honestly, I didn't think Seattle have any beaches because you don't hear people saying "Oh Seattle has nice beaches", it's always the Pike Place Market, the seafood, Starbucks first coffee shop, etc. So I was really excited to see it. And I have to say, it is nicer than SF (sorry... More

Alki is a fun place to take the kids, the dog and your out of town friends. Pros: A beach in the city, majestic views of the mountains and the city skyline, yummy little restaurants/coffee shops/ice cream stores, great eclectic mix of people. Cons: water and sand are pretty gross, traffic, parking is extremely difficult Overall, if you're going just... More

The views are outstanding- Puget Sound,Olympic Mountain range and the Seattle skyline. The drawbacks-water is dirty; the beach isn`t much to look at AND the seaweed has a strong odor. BUT STILL WORTH THE VIEW- SIGHTS!

Great beach for family fun. Good for friends and family outing. They have number of restaurants across the road. Difficult to find parking in rush hours of summers. So be wise and start searching parking before 1 or 2 blocks. Nice long walkway along the beach. Fun activities and swimming.

A great place to hit the beach and make a campfire. I like to go for walks and hit Saltys for Happy Hour. Perfect afternoon!

This is a beautiful spot to view the sun setting over the Olympic Mountains with Seattle to your right and the ferrys enroute to their various destinations. The beach is pleasant and can get crowded. Swimming??? If you can stand cold water!
