We loved that this beach was so close to Seattle proper, maybe 20 minute drive, Everyone was really friendly and nice there. We had heard that parking was hard to find but we found a spot right on the main street, just a sidewalk separating us from the beach. It was a really relaxing and fun way to spend a... More

Alki beach is a great destination in Seattle..take the water taxi over from downtown Seattle and you get awesome views of the city and get to Alki without driving. Lots of bars and restaurants on the waterfront. Good day and night.

If going to Seattle, do yourself a favor and take a trip over to West Seattle. Alki Beach is beautiful. It gives you an awesome view of the city and the mountains. You'll be happy you did!

The water here does not have big waves nor a vast sand track which is normally associated with ocean beaches. But the beach/water front has been well developed, with plethora of restaurants and Coffee Shops welcoming the tourists. Parking is an issue, especially during weekends, as the entire stretch struggles to cope with the demand for parallel parking of the... More

My friend took me to visit Alki beach on my trip to Seattle, but she took me at night. Going to the beach at night had its pros and cons: Cons - cold cold sand, no visibility, weirdos and a few drunk guys. Maybe not the safest place at night, but we felt fine. Pros - the city lights!!!! You... More

In west Seattle, you are in the middle of nature and very close to everything. Having jogging in alki avenue in the morning is a great and relaxing moment.

There's a great view of Puget Sound all the way along Alki, where the first settlers landed. Lots of sand & water on one side, many good restaurants on the other. Parking is difficult, but sometimes one can luck out on a side street. A great place to spend a day sunbathing, swimming (if you can stand the cold water),... More

One of my favorite beaches to visit. Very clean. You can have picnic lunches at the beach, wade in the water and watch the boats go by.

Best to visit at low tide...very low tide, like below -2 on the tidal chart. The pools are amazing! Sadly, the purple seastars are very, very low in numbers but there are other fascinating creatures to discover. Walk gently and be patient...the critters come out when you least expect it! Mind the geoduck spray, too, it'll get you!
