As you roam the subterranean passages that once were the main roadways and first-floor storefronts of old downtown Seattle, our guides regale you with the stories our pioneers didn’t want you to hear. It’s history with a twist! The tour begins inside Doc Maynard’s Public House, a restored 1890s saloon. Following a short intro, we’ll walk through historic Pioneer Square to three different sections of Underground—about three blocks in all... « less

First of all: It is not so much what you see on the tour - it is the stories that are told that make this tour worth taking. And, that tour was allot of fun. With that being said, Bill Speidel's Underground Tour is too popular. The group had to be split into five smaller groups. And, our group was... More

I had heard great things about this tour and I was not disappointed. The city has a strange and funny past and this tour captures the history and humour very well. I thought the value was excellent for what you get and I enjoyed seeing the city from a different perspective.

The Underground Tour explores an interesting fact about Seattle, namely that the whole city was re-graded in the late 19th Century, leaving an abandoned underground level from that time. The Tour takes you through sections of this underground level, while the guide talks about the history of Seattle and some of its colorful characters. The guide seemed knowledgeable, though there's... More

This was a fun, interesting & educational tour of old Seattle. If you've got about 90mins and you're a history buff or just playing tourist, this is a unique tour for you. They start you out in Doc Maynard's saloon with approx 20min introduction and some history before going underground. The tour guides have a bit of "cheesy" humor (not... More

The tour was of the old city under the city. Our tour was the "adults only" version which went over some of the seeker sides of the city circa 1851. The underground was the original city footprint. After a fire leveled the town (all structures were wooden) the town was raised. Street level became the basement. Interesting tour, well presented... More

This is really something different ann fun to do. I am not a fan of walking, however this tour is not bad. It consists of approximately 60 ~ 80 minutes of walking. It is not a bad walk, however there are stairs. I would return ~

The tour starts with a fun and raucous discussion of how Seattle got started. It then follows with a walk under the city streets and stores. Yes, it is dirty but what do u expect from an underground experience? The guides were absolutely terrific. Well worth the time.

This was a real surprise. I knew nothing about the history of Seattle but this was an extremely insightful and very funny 90 minute trip down to the second level of the city. Apparently the early founders knew nothing about the tides so promptly built the city too low and eventually after fires they got it right by putting the... More

The underground tour was ok, but the tour guide was amazing and made the 75 minute tour very enjoyable with a vocal history of Seattle, explaining why and how the city created an "underground". The area around the tour location is pretty sketchy, so make sure you know where you are going. From the light rail station at Pioneer Square,... More

A lot of this presentation is done tongue-in-cheek, but a lot of good early Seattle history is included. About a ninety minuet tour, it's well worth taking.
