As you roam the subterranean passages that once were the main roadways and first-floor storefronts of old downtown Seattle, our guides regale you with the stories our pioneers didn’t want you to hear. It’s history with a twist! The tour begins inside Doc Maynard’s Public House, a restored 1890s saloon. Following a short intro, we’ll walk through historic Pioneer Square to three different sections of Underground—about three blocks in all... « less

We had a group of 4 that was able to do the Underground Tour in Seattle in October 2014. Our tour guide was very entertaining and knew the history of the underground city. The tour lasts about an hour and you go into 3-4 different underground locations to learn about the history of Seattle.

My spouse and I participated in Bill Speidel’s Underground Tour in early August 2014. You can book specific tour times and pay for your tour on their website, although the office also accepts walk-in customers (who are in the majority). You can book and pay for tickets on-line up to one hour before the start of a tour. We did... More

The tour guide, Rose, was informational and witty. The tour is both underground and above pointing out some of the city's oldest buildings and its "adult" past. We had such a great time!

I brought 18 high school students to visit colleges in the Pacific Northwest and I wanted to do something that was fun, yet added to the educational experience of the trip. For some students, it was their first time in Seattle and the underground tour was a great addition to their background information of the city. I think the tour... More

We went on the 21+ evening tour and I found I didn't really get a lot of the history of the underground. Instead, we just walked to various underground rooms and the guide told us stories about Seattle's prostitution history but it wasn't connected at all to the locations we were visiting. The tour was fine but I wanted more... More

This was the 2nd time my husband and I took this tour. Thoroughly enjoyed it just like the first time. The guide was amazing, very knowledgeable and humorous. I would highly recommend.

This was a great history lesson about Seattle...you will walk beneath the City of Seattle and learn how and why third floor windows became front doors! Fun and enlightening...a bit of walking and stairs involved!

We were not sure what to expect on this tour as we did not have any previous knowledge of this tour.. really interesting history lesson. The tour itself of the underground area was not that exciting.. wish they could do a bit more reconstruction, but to hear the stories and see a few pictures was very interesting.

My father actually suggested I do this, otherwise I might not have known about it. So glad he told because what a great time it was. It's a fun walking tour that takes you under the streets of Seattle and into the city before the city you see now. The tour starts off with a lecture to get you familiar... More

My first day in Seattle I took this fun tour and then visited the Klondike Gold Rush Museum nearby and, thoroughly grounded in the fascinating history and evolution of Seattle, was all set to explore further. You need to be fit on your legs and not suffer from claustrophobia or asthma to take the dive into the city's past. Our... More
