Owner description: Skagway's "The Days of '98 Show with Soapy Smith"! - The Longest Running show in the north! Since 1923, The Days of '98 show has stupefied and bedazzled audiences with the tale of Jefferson Randolph "Soapy" Smith, Alaska's most notorious outlaw. Soapy reigned over Skagway during the wildest days of the Klondike Gold Rush, and this colorful vaudevillian musical recounts his incredible life and dramatic demise! With can-can dancers, ragtime music, riotous humor, and the great con-man himself, Soapy Smith, this show is a treat for the whole family!

Very professional acting. Like Broadway in Skagway. History the easy way! Well worth the time and price of admission.

As a cruise ship crewmember ports get old quite fast, specially if there isnt much you can do with a low budget (most alaska excursions are quite expensive) so days of '98 was definitely a highlight, it was fun and entertaining and when they said it was free for crew. That's all I needed to hear

This little show has lots of talent and enthusiasm. Everyone in the production pulls double duty at least. Money well spent.

What a hoot. Good old fashioned vaudeville fun and games with a history lesson thrown in for good measure. The singing and dancing was pretty darn good. Fine entertainment for a couple of hours at a modest price. As always with this time of show, some unsuspecting tourist is plucked from the audience to participate in the shenanigins. Good clean... We liked the smallness of the theater. You could really see the actors/singers' faces. It was cozy and casual and great fun! We knew it would be a bit of slap-stick comedy, some can-can dancing, and old-time music…and we weren't disappointed. Go ahead and see the show! Yes it is "touristy"…..aren't you a tourist?

We just happened to be walking down the main street of Skagway when we saw some fishnet stockinged legs up in the window of a building at 6th and Broadway. "Come on in and see the show," a couple of cute women beckoned us. We were in the right place at the right time, so we went on in and... More

This little theatre company is a gem in a 'gold rush' town. The enthusiasm of the cast and the 'volunteers' make it a great afternoon's entertainment. Do yourself a favour and join in the fun of the tale of infamous 'Soapy' Smith and the other townsfolk in the 'battle of Skagway'. Don't forget to visit the Goldrush Cemetery for the... More

The Days of 98 Show in Skagway, Alaska was a thoroughly enjoyable show. In humorous fashion, the Days of 98 provides a historical overview of Soapy Smith, a not-so-funny figure whose brief time in Skagway substantially impacted the character of the city. This vaudeville-styled show is an often overlooked gem from yesteryears (first playing in 1923). If you want to... More

I thought the value was excellent for this lesson in history of the gold rush and Alaska. A little comedy, a little music, a little poetry (from a Canadian legend, Robert Service) and perfect for families.
