Skagway's "The Days of '98 Show with Soapy Smith"! - The Longest Running show in the north! Since 1923, The Days of '98 show has stupefied and bedazzled audiences with the tale of Jefferson Randolph "Soapy" Smith, Alaska's most notorious outlaw. Soapy reigned over Skagway during the wildest days of the Klondike Gold Rush, and this colorful vaudevillian musical recounts his incredible life and dramatic demise! With can-can dancers, ragtime music, riotous humor, and the great con-man himself, Soapy Smith, this show is a treat for the whole family!

We've actually gone twice now! This last time with 4 other couples based on our encouragement and great reviews! An interesting way to 'see' the saga of Soapy Smith! Live vocals and piano accompaniment in a quaint, restored theater!

The show was cute though predictable. Warning.....there is some audience participation involved. It was a nice rest after walking all around town!

Great way to spend an hour. The cast was engaging, funny and talented. I don't always enjoy seeing audience members pulled up on to stage but the gentleman from our audience warmed up to it and was quite a ham himself. I found that scene to drag a little. The cast was in the lobby after the show for pictures... More

We did not expect to attend a show in Skagway, but we had extra time and went. We are glad we did! The show was fun, entertaining and performed professionally. Bravo to the summer actors...great job!

Visited during tour of Skagway. Not sure what we expected but certainly enthusiastic spectators after the first few minutes. Cast very professional and really typified the performances of the era. Audience participation invited. Story of 'Soapy' Smith kept the audience spellbound. Piano player excellent. Definitely a highlight and a must see for all visitors to the town. Great popcorn.

My friend and I were in Skagway this summer, and we heard about The Days of '98 Show. What started as a fundraiser in 1923 for the local hockey team is now a city stalwart for the tourist trade. The show tells the story of Jefferson "Soapy" Smith and his showdown with Frank Reid in 1898, during the famous Klondike... More

This was one of those places that I never thought of visiting except that my cousin ended up in the cast of performers for the summer season. And! I'm so glad I went. It actually was a fun/lively performance with a mix of music, dancing and poetry. The audience participation was a nice touch too. So, if you're about time... More

Great show! The singing, dancing, music and acting were very professional. They told the story of Jefferson Smith , aka Soapy, who was a con-man and benefactor of Early Skagway. It was a very lively show with the can can dancers and an extraordinary piano man. The costumes and atmosphere were authentic.
