I took a NCL cruise to Alaska and wanted to get some exercise during my shore stays. I booked this hike/train/bus excursion through the cruise lines and loved it. The next time I go to Skagway, I'll likely not be on a cruise, so I asked for the contact info to book directly. The trip involved a bus ride up... More

My husband and I (not young people) recently did the Laughton Glacier hike, starting with a White Pass rail up to Glacier Station, then hiked up through rainforest onto the glacier itself. Our total trip from cruise ship to train, hiking up and down and back to ship was 12.2 miles, so this was a day's good challenge, lasting about... More

I was a little skeptical about going on this trip seeing as I've never hiked before, but let me tell you it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Our guides were amazing. They had a different guide for each pace. We were given a fanny pack with water and candy bars. We were also given the... More

So glad we booked this excursion. The scenery in the lake is spectacular. That alone is worth the activity. The guides are a class act. They are expert and knowledgable. They taught us, without talking down to us, how to navigate the kayaks, paddles, rudders and most importantly, how NOT to tip our tandem kayak in the cold water. The... More

You will board the train for a six mile ride. The hikers are given their own car which allows them good viewing. You are provided with a fanny pack with water and snack bar. The guide to hiker ratio was very good. The guides carried rain gear for all and had limited number of hiking poles for those who needed... More

My wife and I did an Alaska cruise in July as our first vacation without kids since getting married eight years ago. Our trip stopped in Juneau, Skagway, and Ketchikan (for the Alaska portion) and we did an excursion in each location. I can safely say that the Packer Expeditions "Laughton Glacier Wilderness Hike and White Pass Railway Adventure" excursion... More

Incredible scenery on the train ride up to White Pass with glacial topped mountains, sweeping views of steep forested mountainsides, waterfalls and the history of what the early gold seekers endured on the trail to the Yukon. It was a lovely sunny day when we arrived for our kayak at Fraser, Canada (make sure to take your passport for the... More

My experience on the train and hike excursion through Packer Expeditions was excellent. Arriving by cruise ship, I only had a few hours to make the most of my time in Skagway. Skagway is a great little Alaskan town, but like most Alaskan towns, its draw is what it gives you access to - the Alaskan Wilderness. This excursion helped... More

We booked this through a cruise ship and couldn't fault our knowledgeable guides, who led us on a trip through the temperate rainforest (part of Tongass National Forest) lots of info on the environment and the plants plus the chance to try a few berries etc. and to be warned which to avoid, plus we travelled 5 miles from Skagway... We loved every minute of our tour with Parker Expeditions. It started with a train ride from Skagway to the Canadian border. Once there, we were met by our kayak guides where we were given proper gear and instructions on how to kayak. At first - we were all a bit skeptical - as the launch spot is right next... More
