We stayed at the park for five nights. My husband and I loved the peace and quiet. We enjoyed being surrounded by the forest and wildlife. My husband's teenagers were bored, but that's normal. Phone service was a no-go for their phones. My husband and I have a different carrier. Our service was intermittent. At this point, when I say... More

Great park for camping. We reserved several sites for a large family camping trip. Clean sites. Cleanest restrooms and bathhouse around. All SC State Parks I have visited are like this.

Yesterday was a beautiful day minus the refreshing sudden thunderstorm that passed through. Beautiful visual as you walk or drive in the park as the bikes, motorcycles, and campers go by. Not far from Charlotte, you can see the peaks of terrain from I-85. I love this place to get away from the rate race.

This park is back in the woods so it feel very rustic, but with large restroom and showers it's a very nice place. They were building a new camp office when I was there, but have heard that it done and open for business. Large lots with water and elec., also have a few rustic sites for those who want... More

Camped here at an electric site. Campground is full of trees but still seems quite open (and, therefore, not too private) as much of the foliage is high on the tree. There are two lakes on site but you cannot swim at either. They charge $5 to use your own boat. Despite these things, we will return. There are several... More

We stayed one while on the road. If time had permitted we would have stayed longer. The reception lady was very polite and helpful made us feel very welcome. We came in on a Saturday and they were pretty full but we still found a good site. My only concern was that SC only gives discounts to SC veterans and... More

We decided to go for the day to enjoy a canoe trip on the lake. Little did we know, they only had two... (2) canoe's and they were already gone. We ended up renting a paddle boat for 10 dollars on the hour and we had trouble finding out how to rent them. They have NO signs telling where to... More

I wouldn't have even thought to write a review for this park, but I wanted to see reviews for camping. Needless to say, after reading another review, I wanted to share my negative experience. I came to the park and walked the trails which were decent. The whole way is paved. I don't personally appreciate that, but I am sure... More

The local innkeeper told us about how neat this working farm is. We enjoyed all of the chickens and the sorghum crusher.

Enjoyed the museum and how they displayed the information. Made following the history very easy and interesting. Also liked the movie they played that told about the history and how it was to live through that time period. Was very interesting !!!
