When asked if the main trail crosses much water, the ranger quickly and freely admitted that he had never been on the main long loop trail and isn't into hiking, so he couldn't answer any questions about anything at all. The trails were not especially well marked, and the trail markers completely dropped you at the horse area with no... More

It has come to my attention several times in the last few years that a lot of folks think that the SC State Park System SUPPLIES campers with part of the candy they give out. The Kings Mountain State Park has NEVER contributed any candy to the campers. THE PEOPLE CAMPING AT THE PARK SUPPLY ALL OF THEIR OWN CANDY... More

Plenty of wooded water & electric sites although some can be tricky to get larger rigs into. We often go to Kings Mountain for the many hiking trails that are available. There is a federal park adjacent to the state park where you can walk the battlefield and learn about the battle of Kings Mountain. You can't beat the price... More

The park was very empty. That made it good for us. The campsites have no privacy. If it was busy it would be uncomfortable. The bathroom facilities were large enough for more campers but they were not being cleaned. The bugs, spiders and stray pieces of litter made them look dirty. Many of the campsites are not very level. We... More

My husband and I stopped here on our way to the nearby outlets in Gaffney SC. We knew we'd need a place to stretch our legs and just get out of the car for a bit. I agree with some other reviewers who complained about poor signage. We received a map and some directions from a friendly employee at the... More

We stayed at the park for five nights. My husband and I loved the peace and quiet. We enjoyed being surrounded by the forest and wildlife. My husband's teenagers were bored, but that's normal. Phone service was a no-go for their phones. My husband and I have a different carrier. Our service was intermittent. At this point, when I say... More

Great park for camping. We reserved several sites for a large family camping trip. Clean sites. Cleanest restrooms and bathhouse around. All SC State Parks I have visited are like this.

Yesterday was a beautiful day minus the refreshing sudden thunderstorm that passed through. Beautiful visual as you walk or drive in the park as the bikes, motorcycles, and campers go by. Not far from Charlotte, you can see the peaks of terrain from I-85. I love this place to get away from the rate race.

This park is back in the woods so it feel very rustic, but with large restroom and showers it's a very nice place. They were building a new camp office when I was there, but have heard that it done and open for business. Large lots with water and elec., also have a few rustic sites for those who want... More
