It promises an Alaska that most will never see - for those with a spirit of adventure and flexibility. The Darby is outfitted with top of the line kayaks, a 16 ft skiff, and excellent fishing gear. Captain Bob and his daughters (and wife too) have created the most incredible experience out into the Kenai Fjords National Park. A trip on the mighty Darby has so much to offer. Yeah, it's got all the beautiful scenery and all the cool wildlife stuff. All of the tours have that. But what "Bob's Pretty Good Charters" (our nickname for... More

My husband and I enjoyed a three day, 2 night trip on the Darby with Bob and Kenzie. We booked this trip hoping to have a unique experience in a beautiful Alaskan National Park. We left with unforgettable memories and two new friends. The Darby offers a Eco-tourism experience like no other. We had several bucket list things we wanted... More

Let me first say I am a family member of the Barnwells so I suppose I am a bit biased...but I cannot resist writing a review and raving about the Darby. Last weekend, we did a short trip out to Thumb Cove and although it was short, we were able to get wildlife viewings, a hike to a glacier, and... More

We chartered a 3 night/4 day trip with Bob Barnwell and his daughter Kenzie. Unfortunately, the weather turned very rough, so we had to cut our trip to only a day and a half. We thoroughly enjoyed our short adventure. Bob and Kenzie are wonderful people that we felt right at home with. Kenzie was a gracious host and great... More

When it comes to the Kenai Fjords National Park you have two options: pile on a boat crammed with hundreds of other tourists for a few hours OR join the Barnwells on a personalized tour of the Kenai Fjords and sleep amongst looming glaciers. The Barnwells (Bob and daughter Mackenzie) hosted myself and three other family members for a three... More

We (2 couples) spent 5 nights on the Darby. It was a fantastic window into the Alaska most tourists don't get to see. Cruising the Kenai Fjords National Park, visiting glaciers, watching humpback whales breach and spout, sea otters play, puffins, seals, dolphins...a paradise for nature lovers. Captain Bob and his daughter McKenzie were a terrific team, tailoring hikes and... More

We took an Alaskan cruise a few years ago and it fell short on delivering an authentic Alaskan experience. If you want to see the real Alaska, one that will leave you in awe and virtually speechless, charter the Darby for a least 3 days. My wife and I were in Alaska for 2 weeks and this was by far... We spent three days, two nights out on the Darby with Bob and his daughter Alison, and it was the highlight of our Alaska trip. Fantastic animal sightings (orca, harbor porpoise, sea lions, puffins, sea otters), spectacular peak-surrounded coves with waterfalls coming down on all sides, glacier hikes and other great view hikes, and great sea kayaking. Bob knows how... More

If you are looking for a cruise ship type experience, the Darby is NOT for you. If you want to explore the Kenai fjords at your own pace, see tons of great stuff, fish for your diner, and do some hikes with no crowds or boatloads of cruise ship people, this is the trip for you. We went with two... More

Blue skies may have had something to do with it. The real winner was the Barnwell family. They made this the best vacation we've ever taken together, which is saying a lot. We saw the wildlife, explored the scenery, ate the food - even swam. We talked, played cards, hiked and kayaked together. We also soaked up the peace, silence... More
