This beach is amazing for a day at the beach. Pristine white sandy beach and crystal clear water. This is a good area to boogie board, but snorkeling is discourage as the currents are pretty rough and the waves crash pretty hard. This is a fantastic place to spend the day. Be sure to get there early, as the parking... More

I've been to Hawaii several times but this was my first time on the Big Island. I didn't think beaches like this existed on the Big Island. Definitely this has to be one of the most beautiful on the Island. The previous directions on this review section were GREAT. Right at Mile Marker 88 across the street from the Veteran's... More

Just across the street from the veterans cemetery on hwy 19 near mile marker 88. The beach is finer than sugar with plenty of places to swim without being bashed into rocks. There are public bathrooms and showers to clean up at before leaving. This beach is much nicer than the "white sands beach".

We visited this most beautiful beach in December 2010. The sand is as fine as sugar, the product of parrot fishes nibbling on the coral reefs. The power of the waves can be quite deceptive. I was swept off my feet and underwater for what seemed an eternity. My hubby rescued my hat, figuring that I would be washed ashore... More

Most beautiful beach I've seen in Hawaii. Like a Caribbean beach. The water is crystal clear and soooo blue!!. The most white sand I've seen in Hawaii. I'm so glad that the state paved the road down to Kua Bay since our last trip to Hawaii. The road is across from the West Hawaii Veteran's cemetery. We were there in... More

The Big Island is often pushed aside and described as not having very many gorgeous and easily accessible beaches like you find on Maui, however, I think that some of the best beaches in the State can be found here and this is one of them! I thought Mauna Kea (Kauna'oa) Beach (sometimes in the top 10 list of US... More

Fine white sand beach (a rarity for the big island) and clear water. Kua Bay Beach is a favorite spot for the locals. Parking tends to fill up after 11am. Great for boogie boarding or sun bathing. Decent snorkeling on calm days on the north side.

I didn't know a beach like this even existed on the Big Island. The sand was white and finer than sugar. The water was a completely clear turquoise. We heard about this beach from some locals and ended up going there twice on our 5-day trip. We tried to go back a 3rd time, but it was Wednesday, and the... More

This beach was awesome and gave us the true experience of relaxation on the beach! The drive was not bad at all from our hotel in Kailua-Kona (about 20 mins) and a previous reviewer gave directions that took us there without getting lost. Definitely, look to your right as you are driving along and when you see the Veteran's Cemetary... More

This was THE most beautiful beach I've ever seen. Looked like something out of a magazine. Be mindful of the locals though, this is their beach, but they willingly share it with you. Keep it beautiful by cleaning up your trash.
