The food was good, and the show was fun, although we live on the Big Island anyway and aren't thrilled with events intended mostly for tourists. (We were treated to this luau by visiting guests.) The "average" rating is because of the temporary "Hawaiian tattoo" they offer to stamp on guests. My wife is not interested in such things in... More

If they decided to have a luau in prison, they might serve this food. Imagine your food being served on a plastic trays with sections, like in a bad high school cafeteria. Seriously though, I couldn't believe what they served. The kalua pig and romaine salad were fine. Other "authentic" foods included boy, purple yams, and coconut rolls. It's unclear... More

We made this a family event and it was so much fun. Our three year old loved it especially the fire and pig unveiling! He was up dancing most of the time. There were other things to do as well for the kids- bracelet making, tattoos, etc. The dancing and fire dancing was so much fun. The host was great... More

There are several luau on the Big Island but we chose the one at the Royal Kona resort because of a local recommendation. We weren't disappointed! It was hugely fun and entertaining with audience participation and a variety of performances from many different islands - Samoa, Cook Islands and even New Zealand. The buffet was delicious and there was plenty... More

What a wonderful Luau this is! We were told by 4 other couples that this was the one and only Luau to go to on the Big Island. Man were they right. The fire dancing and entertainment were Awesome! Drinks were Awesome. Great show and meal for the money!

The dance performances were excellent. The hostess' microphone was too loud for my ears and I didn't care much for her singing. But the other performers were excellent. Everyone had a wonderful time and food was better than other Luau's but I go for the performances and not as much for the food.

A luau is a "must-see" when visiting the Hawaiian Islands. We have been blessed to attend luaus on Maui and Kauai. When researching, you read that the best is the Old Lahaina Luau on Maui. Having been several times, I have to agree. HOWEVER, this staff puts on a spectacular show with a handful of dancers. The food was good,... More

The Royal Kona Luau includes all what makes a Hawaiian luau special: an aloha shell lei greeting, traditional imu ceremony, all-you-care-to-eat luau buffet dinner, open bar (standard cocktails, beer, wine, soft drinks, fruit punch, and coffee & tea) and a dynamic Polynesian show! What was super nice, is that they went all out to accommodate my gluten intolerance, I contacted... More

The ocean view and sunset made this experience even better. Loved the host, the band, the dancers, the view, and the sunset. The food was okay, but I loved the pig. You are encouraged to take pictures of them uncovering the pig. It will definitely put you in the Aloha spirit! I was celebrating both a birthday and honeymoon. We... More

The open bar was GREAT (make sure to get your mai-tais topped off). They also had 2 tables offering free polynesian tribal "tattoos" and free lei making. The food was typical luau fare. Location is gorgeous, set right on the ocean front at sunset, and the show was really entertaining. My husband and I had a great time.
