My wife and son and I went to the Royal Kona Resort Luau while we were vacationing on the Big Island this last June. I had received some feedback via the Trip Adviser forums that this luau is not good. However, I'm the kind of person that sometimes I just need to try it for myself. Other peoples opinions are... We had to pay to park then wait in line for a half hour. The line for people who hadn't paid was shorter. Otherwise it was great!!

Interesting traditional dances. Got to see the unearthing of the pig roasted in the traditional pit oven. Musicians played good jazzy music along with more traditional songs for the dancers.

We're staying at the Sheraton and attended the luau here; but, I have to be honest, I actually liked the one at the Royal Kona Resort better. The show moves a little faster and the sunset is to die for. The Royal Kona overlooks the water while the Sheraton's is in the convention place lawn. I liked everything about the... More

We enjoyed this luau. Food, show, service, and music were all first rate. Sure it has plastic chairs and feels like a big family picnic but if you know much about luau's-that's what they are. If you want china, cloth napkins, and stuffy people eating expensive food, eat at your mega resort! It is also hard to complain about a... More

The Royal Kona Resort Luau is a bit pricey, but hey, roasted pig is pretty darn good. The entertainment is excellent and if you want to attend a luau in the Kona District, then this is about the only place to go.

Worst Luau we have been to. Long wait to get in, $3 to park (are you kidding?). At arrival to the hostess she grumpily pointed to the sign that says essentially "if it rains, you're screwed", Aloha to you too. Plastic chairs, tables are set on the angle of the lawn so everyone is sitting on a tilt. We got... More

We found a great package deal with the company Body Glove: this luau at the Royal Kona and a fabulous historic luncheon cruise (with Body Glove)! I found it on the Internet. The price for our niece (age 17) was $147.87 (for both!), and $154.31 for those of us 18 and over. What a bargain! (The cruise was excellent --... More

I originally planned to go to Legends of the Pacific luau, but when my hubby balked at the $120/person cost, we looked at others. This luau was only $65 if you order online, and it was great. We had been to other luaus, but this was a first for our 4 teenagers. We wanted them to experience the hula dancers... More
