Attended the Royal Kona Luau in September with our adult children...we had a fantastic evening! We arrived early and paid for the upgraded seating. It was well worth it as our seats were up front, next to the stage. Our sons enjoyed participating in the "audience participation" part of the show. The show was entertaining and informative...but would have like... more

We attended on Sept 25,2009. Bought the tickets in advance by calling a number that had a discount. No indication that it was not directly with Royal Kona. Got a big hassle when went to get in. 2 people handling the 2 lines. Very unfriendly..not the way to start a luau. Acted like they knew nothing about the ad that... more

I went there with my husband and two kids. The luau price was expensive $98 adults/ $70 children 10 and under. We got there at 4:30 to get the best seats. Security will not let you in any earlier than that. There was a place you can sit down before they let you in at your table. All of the... more

This was our first Luau, and we chose it because of the discount we received doing a timeshare presentation. There is a $3 fee for parking at the Royal Kona Resort. For best seating I recommend arriving early a little before 4:30. By arriving early you can get the seats next to the VIP area. I liked taking the seating... more

I have never been to hawaii so i wanted to experience Hawaii to the full. This was a wonderful experience. It rained about 20 minutes of being there but they were very nice and handed out ponchos to help the guest stay dry. Also the staff was very nice! The food was amazing and you do have to be adventurous... more

We didn't stay at the Royal Kona, but chose to see the luau there. We pre-purchased the tickets (March 2009) from an entertainment group, getting a $5 discount per ticket. You are told to arrive at 5 pm for check in, but what they don't tell you is that every person who buys a ticket in advance has to wait... more

We went to the luau on Friday 1/24/09 and had a wonderful time. All of the food was great, we stuffed ourselves. The host, band & dancers gave wonderful performances. The only complaint would be the open bar was very limited. You had to stand in a long line for it because they had only one bartender & he seemed... more

I attended the Royal Kona Resort Luau on January 21, 2009 with a friend and his mother. First, a word of warning. Though they make a great ceremonial to-do about cooking the pig and digging it up, I believe the pork you get is from the previous luau. Mere minutes after diging up the meat and hauling it off, dinner... more

Unless you like bad food, wait staff in faded stained shirts, a bossy seating person, dirtly buckets on your table when you arrive (for the leaves of something they ultimately served), this is not the luau for you. The entertainment was okay but for the price, really really tacky and unclean. I think its hayday passed many decades ago and... more

We booked this on line and then went early (4:30 pm - normal check in is at 5:00pm) to ensure we could get priority seating. Totally worth the $5 extra for a closer seat. We brought our 4 year old and our 18 mo old, and before dinner a dancer came out with some hula equipment and let everyone try... more
