Since the day the Big Island Country Club opened to rave reviews in 1997, it has been on the "must play" list of the golfing visitor to Hawaii's Big Island. That's not only because of its spectacular location and scenic beauty, but equally because of its well-deserved reputation as a course that welcomes both the novice player as well as the low-handicap expert. The course is simultaneously enjoyable yet challenging, and is designed for every level of playing ability. Designed by famed golf course architect Perry Dye, son of Pete Dye, the par 72 course has all the popular attributes and interesting features that make his layouts so popular to golfers of varying skills: wide, gently rolling bermuda grass fairways, medium-size undulating Bent grass greens, and an abundance of water.

My son and I played on a Sunday morning, we were greeted by the ladies in the pro shop. We were about an hour early so the starter (also very friendly) got us off about 45 minutes early. The course was in pretty good shape and the pace of play was fantastic. Overall my son and I really enjoyed our... More

Beautiful course, greens are usually in pretty good shape as well as rest of corse. We have golfed at other courses on island, and this is our favorite. After 12 price is a good deal. Challenging course, especially 17 & 18. Staff is very friendly and helpful You will enjoy watching all the wild life running around. Gang on to... More

I was looking to play a quick round on the big island but wasn't interested in dropping $250-$350 on my round with rental clubs. I was told about Big Island CC. It was a pleasant surprise. The green fees were $65.00 plus $45.00 rental clubs. The course was fun and was in pretty good shape especially for the price. I... More

I have been to the Big Island and have played a fair number of the golf courses. I visited 9/20-27, 2015 this year (the week was a little humid but perfect weather when I golfed) and played Hapuna, Mauna Lani, Makalei and Big Island golf courses, and I gotta say, for the money, I really like Big Island County Club... Wow. This is one of our favorite Big Island Courses. The fairways are generally wide and beautiful, but require thinking to place your shots in the best spots. The 17th hole is a replica of the island 17 at Sawgrass, and the 18th has a parallel final fairway and you must cross water to get to it. How close do... More

If you want a break from the resort courses (and prices), try Big Island Country Club! It's cooler up on the hill, and you'll enjoy the change of scenery, the wildlife (I especially loved the goats - with all the babies!), and the very friendly people! We will return the next time we are on the Big Island!

Big Island Country Club is a hidden course 20 minutes out of Kona. It's on the slopes going up to Waimea. A cooler environment to play in with lots of wildlife on and surrounding the course. It's a beautiful and challenging course. Their signature hole is the 17th hole. It's exactly the same as TPC Sawgrass 17th island hole. There's... More

One of our must play courses when we visit the BI. Upcountry and cool with a challenging but fun layout. Lots of local wildlife!

My group played Big Island Country club during our trip. We got a pretty good deal off hawaiiteetimes and found discount coupons for club rentals. Yeah, we were traveling light on this trip which meant our golf clubs stayed at home. You can buy 3rnd golf packages and save some good $ if you plan on playing a bit. The... More

Although well off the main road of Big Island, it is a very scenic drive to get there from Kona. Once there you realize there is no clubhouse or restaurant but there is a small pro shop with terrific and friendly staff. Carts are up to date and well maintained. The course is a challenging layout for all handicaps with... More
