Not just the pier, but what is so close by. Great water for boarding, snoorkeling, etc. And so many other places to see - shops - great place to eat - and more.

Interesting area and a nice view of town and the volcano above from the end of the pier. The bay is even cleaner now so you can see some sea life. Great spot to people watch. When the youngens are jumpin around the beach and shore they are a kick to watch >> how much joy they get from it... More

Had not snorkeled the pier or in front of King Kam hotel before. In front of King Kam I was worried about the boats coming in and out. It's a pier. Saw some fish but I was not brave enough to go all the way out. Went on the other side where you can stay inside the buoys and not... More

We Traveled to Kona on the Pride of America Cruise Ship. It was a wonderful way to see all of the Hawaiian Islands and make sure you have a Balcony Room, the view are spectacular. We also played Golf at the Kona Country Club, Awesome Views, you will love it.

This is a short pier probably built for the tenders off the cruise ships to dock. There are a few fishermen using it when no ships are in. You can see a replica of a ceremonial hut like one used by King Kamehameha from here, or walk around thru the hotel's beachfront to get a better look. Don't make a... More

This area has the Atlantis submarine . We took the submarine and it was great. The kona beach was small but the views are spectacular. It has one of the bluest waters. The landscape is great and it has lot of shops to buy souveniers and food. Overall an amzing experinece

If you are looking for a beach, look elsewhere. This is a tourist area with shops and hotels and food. There are 2-3 areas of sand but usually crowded and it doesn't really feel beach like. The good part is, it is very close to everything and any place for a hotel in Kailua-Kona. Also if you enjoy the Iron... More

If you stay at any of the hotels right on Alii Drive or a block away, you will be in for a treat. The first time(years ago), our family of 6 stayed at the Kona Seaside and it was great. Basic but clean and a bargain. There is so much to see and do or just sit under the Banyon... More

We were staying at the hotel which is right on the pier. We rated this a bit higher than others may due to the fact that it is the swim start location for the Ironman world championship. If you open water swim from here, there are buoys marked clearly with swim distances. Not much else to do here but it... More

I am security conscious because I have traveled the world for 30 years and lived (as Govt Employee) in Asia for one year and Middle East for five years. I stayed at a local hotel for four nights. On the first evening at nightfall we decided to stroll along Kona's main street to have dinner. We were accosted by a... More
