This was an incredible experience from the get go. The crew, Seth and Paul, were very knowledgeable, personable, and fun. The boat is amazing and can go at very fast speeds and stop on a dime. Saw two species of dolphins, three species of whales, sharks and a sea turtle all before arriving at Capt. Cooks Inlet for some amazing... More

This adventure exceeded our expectations by a long shot, and completely thrilled our teenage daughter. Paul and Seth were terrific hosts - very knowledgeable, very fun, and very safety-oriented. We snorkeled with pilot whales and a couple sharks in 5,700 feet of water about 5 miles offshore -- so yeah, an amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience. There were three Kona-based scuba instructors... Full disclosure, I work for another water-based tour operator in Kona, and THIS TRIP was the HIGHLIGHT of my stay-cation! I had a bunch of family and friends in town for a wedding party, and wanted to set up something different and really special for our guests that are more advanced water-people. No one else in Kona does snorkel trips... More

We booked the morning snorkel tour on 3/7/15, which unfortunately was a bit rainy morning, and the waves were quite rough. This may have inhibited the maneuvering of the boat; the captain did some swerving and came to a sudden stop right as we neared the Honokohau Marina on our return. This was really fun, and we would have enjoyed... More

We never rush our guests to come back. We are actually often running over time to allow everyone to enjoy and make the most of their time. We do have seats and they are located right by the Captain's console. The smoother ride is on the back though and yes the leaning "seats" are surprisingly comfortable. Thank you for your... More

I've ridden with many different boats of all shapes and sizes on the Kona Coast and this is by far the most exhilarating ride you'll find. Super fast, maneuverable, and able to reach locations and distances most can't in the same 4-hour charter time. They'll get you to the big animals quickly so you can spend maximum time in the... Speed is indeed important on the ocean if you are wanting to discover as much as it has to offer. A good eye and experience is another must to take you where you are supposed to go. You are in good hands and appreciate the fact you truly enjoyed your experience with WHOA. Thank you. More

Swam inches from a Manta Ray!!! Snorkeled through lava tubes and sea caves, we saw dolphins and did both pelagic and shallow water snorkeling. An unreal experience exploring the waters off Kona in the loving care of Captain Paul and Deron Verbeck, these consummate watermen scoured offshore current lines and nearer shore dive sites to introduce us to a variety... Thank you for a great review. As Captain and Crew we never approach our daily adventures as a repetitive job with visiting tourists. We are passionate about the ocean and it is as much a joy for us to be out there and more if we can share the excitement. Thank you again. More

By far my most favorite part of visiting Hawaii. I felt safe, thrilled, and excited to see whales, dolphins, turtles and the beauty of the ocean and landscape. I really appreciated the level of dedication by the guys to protect the wildlife and the stories he shared with me to learn about what happens there locally on the waters on... More

We took the morning ride and couldn't have had more fun! We saw whales, dolphins, turtles and my wife even swam with a shark (not sure she'd do that again). The hosts from WHOA are very knowledgable, very friendly and made us feel at home. The boat itself is a very cool ride - definitely something to do while on... More

They are using an old navy seals boat that has amazing power! My 12 year old son thought it was awesome:). On top of that the boat can only carry 8 passengers so a smal group is guaranteed. You get plenty of information from the crew about the ocean, wildlife and Hawaii in general. We started of the trip right... More

Yes, it is the only boat that civilians can ride on (commercially) in Northern America. The boat actually can take comfortably 12 people but we limit our morning trips to 8 because of the animal encounters. We don't put everyone in the ocean at the same time to minimize our impact on the marine life and to be as non-present... More

We booked our family of 8 on the tour last Friday. What can I say, AWESOME! Everything. If you are an experienced snorkel god, or not, they will test your limits. Our family had the best time. We witnessed two types of Dolphins, three Whales, (they even had the equipment on board to listen to the Whales). Whale Karaoke as... More
