We are a personalized, family-oriented service with a proven catch record and you can see this in our Hawaiian marlin tournament results. We deep sea fish for marlin, mahi mahi, ono and tuna year round. We also bottom fish for the big jacks, snapper and sharks when they are abundent. If you have some kids we will target the small tuna at the FAD's or reef fish for them to make sure they get some action. A lot of the charters are family's with kids and we do a good job on the kiddy fishing trips. For those of you that are not fishing people the boat is a great place to sun baith, see whales, dolphins, turtles and rays. Some times its not about the end result but about the journey and fishing in Kona Hawaii is a fun activity you can do with the whole family. We charter fish for a living and do not segregate on who we take out. This means we take any one and everyone out that wants to fish. So whether your a beginner or a experienced fisherman in Hawaii we will show you a good time. Captain and Crew are always polite and courteous to the customers. We try to engage in conversation and answer all your questions through out the day and try to get you involved as much as possible. A lot of our fishing is trolling for the pelagic fish. This means we set the lures or bait and hurry up and wait for a bite. It's kind of like watching paint dry but it is really exciting when it happens. Kona Hawaii is known for consistently catching large blue marlin year round and that is why Hawaii is such a popular fishing destination. We do a lot of charters every year and we take all kinds of different people out fishing with all different expectations and ideas of how the fishing should be in Kona Hawaii. We do the best we can to please everyone but we are not going to please all the people all the time. I think the people that get up set after they fish Kona don't understand the fishing in Hawaii or have different ideas of how the fishing should be. Whether its trolling, live baiting or bottom dropping we will work hard and try different techniques to catch you a fish. You just have to communicate with us on what you want to target and be realistic about the fishing on the Big Island of Hawaii. One of my charters told me "Fishing is not Disneyland and if I wanted a guarantee I would go golfing". A good fisherman has patience and persistence. RATES HALF DAY - $425.00 3/4 DAY - $600.00 FULL DAY - $750.00 Do not include tax. Rates above are for a private boat and you can bring up to 6 people max. You need to bring what you want to eat, drink, sunblock and camera. We provide all the fishing gear and tackle. We also have a ice chest for you to use while on the boat. We do fillet the fish for you to eat while on your vacation. The rest the captain and crew will keep or sell. Thanks for taking the time to read our description and hope to see you on the big island in Kona Hawaii. Captain Chuck Wigzell « less

Booked a 6 hour trip in Feb 21 on Hooked Up with Capt Chuck and Rocky. I went with my wife and two boys, age 13 and 10. I chose Hooked Up because the website talked about how Capt Chuck was good at working with kids. I wanted my boys to have a good time for their first deep sea... More

We had a great experience with Hooked Up. Chuck and Rocky were professional and very friendly. It was like going out fishing with your friends. Our 1/2 day fishing trip turned into a great catching day. We had two fish in the boat in the first hour and had two more the next hour.

Having been a commercial fisherman and from Fla., my expectancy and fishing standard is pretty high. The boat and fishing equipment were top notch. The Capt. And crew also took time to catch us some quality live bait before we departed for the fishing grounds. Minutes after we put the lines out we hooked a pair of yellowfin tuna. We... More

As amateur fisherpeople, we did much research on Charter Providers, as most only Troll, which can be very boring if the fish are not biting. We chose this company as it offered on the website that if we just wanted action we could bottom fish, or fish for small tuna. On the morning of 11th November, Jim was our Skipper,... More

Sorry your expectations were not met and you did not get a bunch of action. My brother Jim said you asked what was biting when you got on the boat and he told you he has been catching mahi mahi and ono. He thought you agreed to fish for those. Sounds like a great idea until it is all over... More

This was our first time deep sea fishing. Captain Chuck and his Crewhand were great! Fun, friendly and knowledable. Caught a Yellow Fin Tuna (80 - 100lbs) and Mahi Mahi. If we come back, would definately go out again with Hooked Up - and hopefully get that Marlin next time! Thanks for the great day!!

first trip more tuna than we could BBQ, second trip 300lb. blue marlin for our special needs son. Capt. Chuck & crew are always the best. We will be back for another trip next year, if not before.

I have fished with Capt. Chuck and his crew three times, three years in a row. I fished with my whole family (wife and two kids, then by myself the second year and this year I fished with my 9 year old son). This boat is hands down the best boat to fish with while you are in Kona. The... More

We were not impressed. Captain Chuck and mate slept (relaxed up top) while we were in the bottom of the boat. Their idea of fishing was to troll. We only tried two types of fishing, trolling and bait (with the one fish we caught). We have been deep sea fishing in Florida and the experience was night and day. In... More

I think a lot of the problem's you read about is caused by people not understand the fishery in Kona or Hawaii fishing in general. Hawaii is a total different fishery than Florida, Mexico and Alaska. Every where you fish is different. So I am sure some people get up set when their expectations are not met and I don't... More

I was not going to Kona without going fishing and the best decision I made was selecting Hooked Up for my trip. Captain Chuck and his crew made no promises about catching fishing but they worked with me to make it possible to land one if we hooked-up. We did. Two powerful Blue Marlin were the day's reward and without... More

To save a few bucks, my brother and I shared a charter with another couple. We all got our shot at the chair, and my brother – a first time fisherman – reeled in a blue marlin. Great experience and definitely will be chartering with Chuck again when I'm back in Kona.
