We are a personalized, family-oriented service with a proven catch record and you can see this in our Hawaiian marlin tournament results. We deep sea fish for marlin, mahi mahi, ono and tuna year round. We also bottom fish for the big jacks, snapper and sharks when they are abundent. If you have some kids we will target the small tuna at the FAD's or reef fish for them to make sure they get some action. A lot of the charters are family's with kids and we do a good job on the kiddy fishing trips. For those of you that are not fishing people the boat is a great place to sun baith, see whales, dolphins, turtles and rays. Some times its not about the end result but about the journey and fishing in Kona Hawaii is a fun activity you can do with the whole family. We charter fish for a living and do not segregate on who we take out. This means we take any one and everyone out that wants to fish. So whether your a beginner or a experienced fisherman in Hawaii we will show you a good time. Captain and Crew are always polite and courteous to the customers. We try to engage in conversation and answer all your questions through out the day and try to get you involved as much as possible. A lot of our fishing is trolling for the pelagic fish. This means we set the lures or bait and hurry up and wait for a bite. It's kind of like watching paint dry but it is really exciting when it happens. Kona Hawaii is known for consistently catching large blue marlin year round and that is why Hawaii is such a popular fishing destination. We do a lot of charters every year and we take all kinds of different people out fishing with all different expectations and ideas of how the fishing should be in Kona Hawaii. We do the best we can to please everyone but we are not going to please all the people all the time. I think the people that get up set after they fish Kona don't understand the fishing in Hawaii or have different ideas of how the fishing should be. Whether its trolling, live baiting or bottom dropping we will work hard and try different techniques to catch you a fish. You just have to communicate with us on what you want to target and be realistic about the fishing on the Big Island of Hawaii. One of my charters told me "Fishing is not Disneyland and if I wanted a guarantee I would go golfing". A good fisherman has patience and persistence. RATES HALF DAY - $425.00 3/4 DAY - $600.00 FULL DAY - $750.00 Do not include tax. Rates above are for a private boat and you can bring up to 6 people max. You need to bring what you want to eat, drink, sunblock and camera. We provide all the fishing gear and tackle. We also have a ice chest for you to use while on the boat. We do fillet the fish for you to eat while on your vacation. The rest the captain and crew will keep or sell. Thanks for taking the time to read our description and hope to see you on the big island in Kona Hawaii. Captain Chuck Wigzell « less

Me, my wife, and my stepdad went out with Hooked Up in August on a half day charter. This is a different trip that I was used to from half day boats in San Diego that are mostly about bottom fishing. Hooked Up is about catching big game fish on the surface while trolling off the Kona coast (or at... More

I have been an avid fisherman all my life, but have never had the opportunity to go big game fishing...only near shore fishing off the east coast of the US in the Atlantic. Chuck was not only a great person that made you feel welcome he also handled his boat very skillfully and allowed me to haul in my very... More

My son and I chartered a 3/4 day trip with "Hooked Up" Sportsfishing Charters on Tuesday August 5th. Chuck's brother Jimmy captained the trip with first mate Matt. The two of them together provided a day that my son and I will never forget. We trolled out to the local buoy caught four(4) tuna while fishing out there then trolled... More

We hired Chuck for a full day of fishing on July 23rd for three of us. It was an overcast day and ultimately we only were able to hook 1 Marlin (by no fault of anyones, just the luck of the draw that day), but the experience was awesome. Chuck, the captain and Matt, the deckhand were knowledgeable and provided... More

Spent a week in Kona and had too go fishing. We hired the Hooked Up for a half day (4 hour) charter. We wanted to catch something to take back to our rental to eat. Although it was prime Marlin season, the Captain Chuck was happy to take us wherever we wanted to put us on some fish. We trolled... More

I have always wanted to go on this kind of a fishing trip, my family however didn't share my enthusiasm! So when the opportunity came up for me to tag along with five of my friends who are experienced at fishing I jumped at the chance! I was along for the ride, so I wasn't evolved in choosing the charter,... More

Chuck and his first mate Matt were awesome to fish with. Both very knoweldgebale and put us on and landed 2 marlins in a 3/4 day charter. It was more akin to a day of fishing with old friends than some type of rigid commerical enterprise. We also saw a sea turtle, dolphins and pilot whales!

Best experience I've had on a charter boat! Chuck is a great captain and put us on the fish. Matt worked hard on the deck and kept the 4 of us engaged in the experience of big game fishing! Great down to earth guys! I will book with Chuck and hooked up again.. However I have to say Chuck. Matt... More

Chuck and Crew, go out of their way to make your day spent fishing as memorable as possible. Whether you get hooked up with a big one or just spend an enjoyable afternoon on the water fishing with Chuck is like fishing with an old friend. We caught not one but two Blue Marlin over 250lbs each - tag and... More

Bob K, NJ Chuck runs a first rate charter operation, period. We have fished offshore from the Outerbanks, New Jersey, Cape Cod, and Puerto Rico, and Hooked Up Sportfishing ranks competitively with the best charters we have experienced, anywhere. Fishing is 50% luck, and 50% local knowledge and preparation. As far as the latter is concerned, in our experience Capt... More
