We went on the morning snorkel and were very happy with our experience. The boat was comfortable with plenty of good seating for everyone and the number of passengers on board felt much less crowded than many other tours. We stopped at a couple of snorkel spots and even with less than ideal weather for snorkeling (cloudy and recent storms... More

Can't go wrong with the Hula Kai.. A must if visiting for your first time. Especially for someone who is looking for a more upscale tour and if you're trying to avoid families with young children.

This tour is all everyone said it would be. The group is small enough to never feel crowded while being large enough to find people you can make lasting connections with. The first dive spot is when they tempt you with breakfast but a few of us couldn't wait to get wet and boy am I glad I did. Saw... More

The manta ray night snorkel was better than advertised. The boat was excellent, crew was knowledgable and the equipment on the boats (e.g. lights used to attract plankton) appeared to be better than surrounding boats. It's hard to emphasize how great of an experience this was for myself and two teenage daughters. We had 3 large rays circling within six... More

We had the best time on the Hula Kai. It was a small group and we had a blast. Captain Kirk and his crew were awesome. The food was good also. We got to see pilot whales and spinner dolphins while on our cruise and Captain Kirk stopped to let us watch them. It was an amazing experience. The tour... More

As frequent Big Island visitors and experienced snorkelers, we wanted to explore some different snorkeling spots off the Big Island. So we booked the Hula Kai catamaran snorkeling trip partly based on their great TA reviews. It is a first class operation: the boat is very comfortable and the food was great. The crew was friendly and helpful and the... More

Awesome time! Saw Manta's within minutes of being in the water. Crew was great. Scenery was divine! Waves were rough the night we went. I would let anyone know that if you are prone to sea sickness to start taking Bonine or something like it early. In talking with others who have done this, I think we had a rare... More

I did the manta night trip a few years ago, and it was one of the coolest things I've ever done in my life. My boyfriend and I flew over from Kauai for one night just so he could do it too...we both agree it was worth the flight, hotel, and rental car just for the experience.

AMAZING!!! My husband and I went on the hula Kai evening snorkel trip to view the manta rays and it was spectacular! Such a unique experience to float on the surface and watch the manta rays perform their ballet, such graceful creatures. The trip was very well organised, with soup and beverages for the journey back. We really can't rate... More
