The waves were quiet big and rough so weak swimmers be careful. Otherwise its a nice beach, some trees for shade. The worst thing is because it one of the nicest beaches closest to the built up area (right in Kona) it was very busy.

Many of the beaches on the Big Island have mostly rock. Magic Sands is a great spot to sink your toes in the sand! It is also know as White Sands Beach. Watching the boogie boarders was our favorite part. Easy & free parking across the street from what I saw (we stayed at the condo complex right next door,... More

This beach is right on Alii drive and you can park on road right by beach. Nice shade or sun if you choose. The sand is white and beautiful and water is clear and no rocks. The waves are good for boogie boards. There was a sea turtle swimming near the shore. We went here several times during our stay.... More

Our condo is right next to Magic Sands beach. The Big Island has so much lava and rocks on the shoreline that most beaches are small like this one. Nice white sand, life guard, & wonderful, warm, clear water.

Be Careful Major Waves.....definitely not for the faint of heart. Beautiful views and good body/boogie boarding.

Not sure when it changed names used to be Disappearing sands as when the waves change the sand is pulled off the rocks and piled up against the reef. I agree with several reviewers as it is usually crowded and no parking. The state park beach down the road has much more parking and is bigger. It also fills up... More

Stopped there, saw the crowd and drove away. Each time when driving by it was the same crowded noisy place to avoid.

For a family with a toddler, this beach was just perfect to meet our desire to body board with the awesome waves (even with turtles!), snorkel with fishes, play with the beautiful sand, picnic and relax looking at the picture perfect beach and great local surfers. The location is so good not too far from the city amenities.
