I went to Kailua-Kona, Hawaii for 18 days and it was the most relaxing place on earth. The waves are really fun so the surf was an A. No A+ because I wanted to surf a few beach breaks and they did not have any. Learned how to surf over shallow reef, unlike California where the flat rock reef is... More

This was on my "bucket list" and I was not disappointed. My friend & I, both over 60, caught multiple waves and we each had at least one long ride. Our instructor, Austin, was really wonderful - giving our boards a shove at the right time so we'd have the speed to catch the wave - and even towing me... More

Perfect 1st day of surfing for my 8 year old son and 12 year old daughter. Both stood up and had long rides and this was 1st time they tried surfing. Watched from shore and was really cool experience and was able to get some great photos from little church lot near surfing spot.. Ask for Dominic..

I caught five waves! Great experience for newbie surfers. When I called to book lessons they were very nice and were flexible with the times for lessons. It cost me $99 for a group lesson of three people (max is 4) that lasted a little over two hours. Our instructor Dante was fantastic and you could see how passionate he... More

I'd surfed just once before in my life (a group lesson on Waikiki about 5 years ago), managed to get up a few times with instructor assistance but had no confidence in my ability to surf without assistance. However, it was enough of a taste to fall in love with surfing, so I was excited to have another opportunity to... More

These guys rent surfboards across from a nice surfing beach; basic stuff. Make sure you check the gear over with them before you hand over the credit card. We rented a board for my daughter for a few hours, and came home to extra charges; the cost of a new board! They claim we broke it in the middle. Got... More

Clear instruction, wonderful support ,and cheers as Dante set up our boards for success as the waves approached . All we had to do was listen & wait until he said paddle hard , he gave us a necessary push to actually stick the wave and then said "STAND UP." Good Grief if we could not get standing on our... More

We really wanted to try surfing in Kona. My husband was an avid California surfer in college but it had been at least 10 years and it was my first time. We spotted Kona Surf Co right on the beach the day we went snorkeling. They really are right across the street, which makes it easy! Dante was our instructor... More

My husband, 8 yr old son, and 6 yr old son took a semi-private morning lesson from Kona Surf School. I had spent the drive down explaining to the boys how much practice surfing takes, how it is normal to fall down a lot, how learning is part of the fun, etc. HA! I could've skipped the pep talk. Both... More

this was quite good albeit like many things in Kona a bit pricey; we paid effectively 180USD for two to take a net 1 hour in the water surf lesson. the group was small and there were two instructors; things went well and my kids felt totally at ease and confident thereafter.
